STEVENSON, MD - The #11 Medaille men's volleyball team captured their first ECAC South Championship ever and just the second ECAC title for any Medaille program as they beat Stevenson (3-1); (25-16, 27-25, 24-26, 25-21) in the semifinal then outlasted #4 Juniata (3-2); (25-18, 22-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-13) in the title game.

Senior Nick Johnson earned Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors with his tremendous play.  In the semifinal Johnson pounded down (13) kills and was remarkable in the Championship game as he finished with a match high (24) kills while hitting at a (.474) clip.  He had four digs in each game as well.

In the semifinal win sophomore Trevor Barrett had a strong performance with a match high (17) kills while contributing with (10) kills as well.  Also playing well was Erin Kelly who finished that match with (15) kills and (5) blocks.  Guiding the Medaille offense into the title match was David Riggsby who posted a team best (36) assists.  On the defensive side Brandon Kilijanski led the way with (17) digs.

In the Championship games the Mavs earned the first set win before perennial national power Juniata would take stes two and three.  The Mavs didn't fold as they evened the match at two games apiece with a two point win to set up a dramatic fifth set victory.  Johnson was awesome in the win but had help from Kelly who registered (17) more kills while hitting with tremendous accuracy at (.483).  Riggsby once again paced the Mavs with (32) assists while Zack Beattie dug up a team high (9) balls and Jordan James led the Mavs with (5) blocks.

The Mavs finish the 2012 season with a tremendous record of (25-9) record.
