University of Southern Maine senior center Dan
Gordon (Lynnfield, Mass.) is among the 12 players named to the New
England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA) ECAC East/NESCAC
All-Star team that was announced today.
Gordon and the other recipients will be honored at the annual
awards banquet being held on April 13 at the Prince Restaurant in
Saugus, Mass.
An ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) East first team
honoree, Gordon is the ninth player, and second forward, in school
history to receive a spot on the NEHWA all-star team. He joins
goalies Dan Smith (1992-93) and David Beckles (2006-07), defensemen
Dan Flacco (1993-94), Ed Pike (1996-97), Brian Collum (1999-2000),
Jon Lounsbury (2004-05) and Dane Marshall (2006-07) and forward
Mark Carragher (2006-07) on USM's list of NEHWA all-stars.
The Huskies' leading scorer this season, Gordon finished the
season with 15 goals and 20 assists for 35 points in 25 games.
Based upon regular season conference games, Gordon was tied for
second in points scored (23) with four other players. Twice during
the season he received a spot on conference's weekly honor roll,
and he was named a semifinalist for the Joe Concannon Award given
annually by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston to the top
American-born player in New England at the Division II/III
level.
During his two seasons at USM after transferring from the
University of Massachusetts Amherst, Gordon played in 50 games
tallying 28 goals and 36 assists for 64 points.
Southern Maine finished the season 11-12-3 overall and 8-8-3 in
ECAC Men's East play (tied for fifth). USM was the fifth seed in
the playoffs and dropped a heart-breaking, 4-3 overtime decision at
New England College in the quarterfinal round.
