ECAC Announces Corvias Men's Soccer Players of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 30.
 
 
DIVISION II
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Hamza Mourchid – Gannon University, Sr.
 
Mourchid scored the game-winning goal against East Stroudsburg in the 108th minute on Saturday. The win marked Mourchid’s seventh game-winning goal of the season. The win also gave the Golden Knights a home match in the first round of the PSAC tournament.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jorge Hernandez – Gannon University, Jr.
 
Hernandez pitched his fourth shutout of the season against the East Stroudsburg Warriors on Saturday. Hernandez’s goalie work helped Gannon win the match in the 108th minute. He pushed his goalie record to 10-4-1 this season.
 
 
DIVISION III - METRO
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Danny Nasti – Stevens Institute of Technology, So., M
 
Nasti scored three goals and added one assist in a 2-0 week for Stevens. Nasti finished with two goals and an assist on Wednesday as the Ducks set a program record in the 16-1 win against Berkeley. On Saturday, Nasti scored with less than 10 minutes to go in regulation, clinching a 1-0 win for Stevens over Houghton. With the win, Stevens secured the top seed in the E8 championship.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Lucas Doucette – New York University, Sr., GK
 
Doucette had a great weekend in goal for the Violets. First, the senior recorded a shutout in a 1-0 victory over 16th ranked University of Rochester. Doucette followed it up by keeping NYU in the game with 10 saves in a 1-0 loss to Emory.
 
Rookie of the Week
Fabio De Sousa – Rutgers University – Newark, Fr., F
 
DeSousa led Rutgers-Newark to its first-ever regular season NJAC title. He scored the game-winning goal midway through the second half in the regular season finale against William Paterson, which marked his NJAC-leading eighth game winner of the year. DeSousa has helped the Scarlet Raiders to a program-record 18 wins. He ranks second among all NJAC players with 34 points this season on 13 goals and eight assists.
 
DIVISION III – NEW ENGLAND
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Josh Ocel – Brandeis University, Sr., M
 
Ocel assisted five of Brandeis's seven goals this week, including four of five in UAA play. He had two assists off corners and two more off free kicks, the game-winner against Emory and the third goal against No. 16 Rochester in a 3-1 win. He also assisted the first goal against UR. Ocel moved into the UAA lead with 11 assists this season and became just the third player in school history with 30 career helpers. He has at least one assist in each of the last six Brandeis games, all wins. 
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Ben Woodhouse – Brandeis University, Jr., GK
 
Woodhouse earned two shutouts and added an upset victory over No. 16 Rochester in a 3-0 week for the Judges. After going untested against Lasell in a non-conference match, he had two stops in a 2-0 shutout of Emory and tied his season-high with six stops in a 3-1 win over Rochester.
 
Rookie of the Week
Matthew Kirkorian – Fitchburg State University, Fr., D
 
Kirkorian totaled six points on three goals in a 1-1 week for the Falcons. The first year tallied a goal in a 2-1 setback to Springfield College before adding both markers in a 2-0 victory against Salem State.
 
DIVISION III – NORTH
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Adrian Colmenares – Hobart College, Jr., M
 
Colmenares notched the game-winning goal for Hobart 6:48 into overtime to secure a 1-0 win over RIT and the Liberty League regular season title for the Statesmen. It was Colmenares' third goal and third game-winning goal this season. Hobart has won its last five overtime games and is now 6-0-3 in overtime games this season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Michael King – Clarkson University, Sr., GK
 
King recorded his eighth shutout of the season by stopping 10 shots against St. Lawrence on Saturday, Clarkson's first win against the Saints since 1993. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Matt LaBranche – RPI, Fr., GK
 
LaBranche posted a pair of shutouts in two starts last week, as the Engineers went 1-0-1. He made eight saves on the week, including six in a 1-0 victory at Keene State on Tuesday night.
 
 
DIVISION III - SOUTH
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Adam Orndorff – Alvernia University, So., F
 
Orndorff scored a game-winning goal and added an assist in a 2-0 week, leading the Crusaders to the No. 3 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship. Orndorff opened the week with an assist on the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Albright. The forward then scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 overtime win over No. 22 Lebanon Valley.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Zach Rider – Alvernia University, Jr., GK
 
Rider concluded the regular-season with back-to-back shutouts over conference opponents to lock up the No. 3 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship. The junior opened the week with a 2-0 shutout win over Albright. Rider then made four saves in a 1-0 overtime win over No. 22 Lebanon Valley.
 
Rookie of the Week
Christian Caporaso – Grove City College, Fr., M
 
Caporaso tallied his ninth goal of the season when he scored in Grove City's 5-1 win over Waynesburg Wednesday.
