Mosalvi's Field Goal Helps Cougars Soar Past The Red Dragons

- Running back Brian Matthews of Kean was named MVP of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Clayton Chapman Bowl, Presented by Best Western and led the Cougars to a 30-27 win over SUNY Cortland on Friday evening at the 2016 ECAC Division III Football Fest at Franklin Field.

Matthews finished with 196 rushing yards on 30 carries. QB Charles App threw for 248 yards and two passing touchdowns and one rushing score. LeRon Dillard rushed for 98 yards and scored a touchdown.

Cortland's Brett Segala threw for 356 yards and run for a team-best 76 yards. Jake Smith eclipsed the 100-yard mark and Jon Mannix narrowly missed the margin. The duo combined for three touchdowns in the air.

The Red Dragons took a 7-0 lead on a seven-yard pass from Segala to Mannix. Later in the first, Kean scored twice on App's sneak from the three-yard line. With 1:29 left, he found Dillard from inside the goal line.

Kean took a 27-14 lead at the break after scoring twice on David Coleman's rushing touchdown and Mannix's second of the night.

Jake Smith's 31-yard touchdown for Cortland was the lone score in the third quarter to put the Red Dragons down 27-21. He would finish with 101 receiving yards.

In the fourth, Zach Tripodi tied the contest with 5:48 left on a seven-yard run, but Aryeh Moslavi nailed the game-winning 26-yard field goal as time expired to give the Cougars the 30-27 win.
