RPI Wins Robert M. "Scotty" Whitelaw Bowl, 38-6, Over Maritime

PHILADELPHIA —
  RPI halfback Mike Tivinis earned MVP honors of the Robert M. “Scotty” Whitelaw Bowl with a pair of rushing touchdowns to lead the Engineers to a 38-6 victory over SUNY Maritime on Sunday evening to conclude the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) DIII Football Fest at Franklin Field. 

Tivinis rushed for 69 yards and a pair of scores on 13 carries. Johnny Rams dell also scored twice for RPI who finished with 429 total yards.

RPI took a 3-0 lead on a 20-yard field goal by Christian Kapp at 9:16. 

The Privateers took a 6-3 lead off a block punt returned for a touchdown by Karl Riek. With 24 seconds remaining in the first quarter, RPI took a 10-6 advantage on a 17-yard run by Tivinis. 

RPI added a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter on short-distance runs by Ramsdell and Tivinis to take a 24-6 lead heading into the locker room.

The Engineers went into the air early in the third quarter on a 23-yard pass by Tommy Avery to Ramsdell and took a 31-6 edge. 

Nick Cella capped the contest for RPI with a 30-yard dash to the end zone at 14:50 to put his team up 38-6. 

For Maritime, Thomas Wright rushed for 90 yards and Christian Castle collected 43 receiving yards.
