ECAC Announces 2016 Division III New England Women's Soccer All-Stars

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2016 Division III New England Women’s Soccer All-Star Team.

Morgan Libby from Maine Maritime Academy takes home the award for Defensive Player of the Year, while Izzy Hutnak from Castleton University captured the Rookie of the Year accolade.

Libby had a strong season for the Mariners. The senior and her back line allowed the second-fewest goals (6) and posted the second-lowest goals-against-average (0.67) in conference games, helping to lead the team to a No. 4 seed in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament. Libby was instrumental in helping Maine Maritime concede less than one goal per game on average and record the second-most shutouts (5) in conference action this season. The defender scored five goals and scored two assists for 12 points in 19 games. Libby is the first-ever NAC women's soccer player to earn both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards in the same season.

Hutnak, enjoyed an impressive first season with the Spartans. The rookie standout finished the conference regular season in the top-10 in assists (4), points (16), and goals (6). She recorded an eight-point performance against Lyndon, netting a hat-trick and adding two assists. Hutnak earned NAC Rookie of the Year honors for her impressive play this season.
