ECAC Announces 2016 Division III Metro Women's Soccer All-Stars
DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2016 Division III Metro Women's Soccer All-Star Team.
Raba Nassif from Stevens Institute of Technology takes home Offensive Player of the Year, while Shelby Money of Rowan University garnered Defensive Player of the Year. William Paterson University's Marisa Adelman claimed the Rookie of the Year award and Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk of Moravian College received Coach of the Year.
Nassif was named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year, claiming the award for the second-consecutive year. The senior made her fourth-straight appearance on the Empire 8 first team, as she led the team and conference in scoring with 23 goals. Nassif recorded multi-goal games seven different times, including a pair of four-goal games against Empire 8 opponents. Nassif led the team in goals (23), assists (15), points (61) and game-winners (5). The forward scored in the Empire 8 Conference Championship helping the Ducks win the title.
Shelby was money in goal this season for the Profs after posting a stellar sophomore season that saw her record 12 shutouts in 19 games for the Profs. Money finished the season with a mark of 15-2-2, a 0.44 goal-against average and a save percentage of .881.
Adelman posted an impressive 42 points in 21 games. Her 19 goals led her to be
named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Year and earned her a spot on the All-NJAC first team. In conference statistics, she ranked first in goals (19), tied for first in goals per match (0.90), second in points per match (2.00) and tied for 8th in game-winning goals (3). During nine league contests, she posted six goals, which is tied for second in the NJAC, one assist and 13 points, tied for third in conference.
Ykoruk was named Landmark Conference Coach of the Year after his Greyhounds finished the 2016 season with a 10-7-1 overall record as the squad reached the Landmark Conference Tournament for the second consecutive season. As a No. 2 seed Ykoruk lead the Greyhounds to the Landmark Conference Championship match where they lost 2-0 to top seed The University of Scranton. Ykoruk earned his 100th career victory on October 5 with a 3-1 victory over King's College.
