ECAC Men's West Announces Weekly Awards for Week Ending Jan. 15

DANBURY, Conn. – The ECAC Men’s West Hockey League has announced its weekly award winners for the week of play ending Jan. 15.
 
Hobart College captured two weekly honors, with senior forward Nick Bingaman earning Player of the Week and freshman goaltender Alexander Connal taking home Rookie of the Week. Elmira College’s Sal Magliocco completed the weekly accolades with the nod for Goalie of the Week, his second in as many weeks.

Bingaman led Hobart with two goals in a 2-0-0 weekend. He scored the Statesmen's first goal in a 4-1 win over No. 13/14 Salve Regina University on Friday night and added Hobart's final goal in a 5-1 win over the University of New England the next night. The senior, who has logged a goal in each of the Statesmen's last six games, currently leads Hobart with 11 goals and 12 points this winter.

Magliocco earns his second-consecutive weekly honor after a strong weekend for the Soaring Eagles. The senior began the weekend with a solid 35-save performance in a tough 3-1 setback to Curry College. Then on Saturday against No. 13/14 Salve Regina, Magliocco made 38 saves to lead Elmira to a 5-2 triumph. The New York native made 18 saves in the third period alone against the Seahawks, helping the Soaring Eagles record their first win over a nationally-ranked opponent this season.

Making the start in both Hobart contests, Connal posted a .955 save percentage, a 1.00 GAA and 42 saves in a 2-0-0 weekend. The freshman turned aside 23 shots in a 4-1 win over No. 13/14 Salve Regina on Friday, and made 19 saves in a 5-1 victory over the University of New England on Saturday. Connal is currently 6-0-2 and is sporting a 1.80 GAA and a .935 save percentage this season.
