ECAC Women's West Announces Weekly Award Recipients
DANBURY, Conn. – The ECAC Women’s West Hockey League has announced its weekly awards for the week of play ending Jan. 29.
Elmira College collected two of the weekly accolades, with Katie Granato taking home Player of the Week and teammate Kelcey Crawford garnering Goalie of the Week. Neumann University freshman netminder capped off the weekly honors with her first-career Rookie of the Week award.
Granato fueled Elmira's offense in a 2-0-1 week, finishing with a team-leading six points on a team-high four goals and two assists. She opened the week with a two-goal one-assist outing in EC's 4-0 road victory over No. 8/10 Amherst College, Elmira's first win over a nationally-ranked program this season. Granato scored the game-opening and eventual game-winning tally. The sophomore forward then closed the week with another three-point performance (2-1—3) in a 5-2 Soaring Eagle victory over Utica, once again scoring the game-opening goal. Granato is the third Elmira skater to be named Player of the Week this season, joining Meg Lahey and Louisa Lippiatt Durnell.

Crawford got the start in all three of Elmira's games this past week and posted a 2-0-1 record. She began the week with a career-high 32-save performance in a 4-0 shutout victory over No. 8/10 Amherst in a non-league matchup, marking the first time in her Elmira career that she had made 30-plus saves in a contest. She then followed up with a pair of 24-save outings in back-to-back games against Utica, first in a 2-2 tie on Saturday and then in a 5-2 win on Sunday. With the win on Sunday, the Soaring Eagles moved back into first place in the ECAC Women’s West standings. Crawford continues to lead in the nation in goals-against average (0.76) and is second in the country in save percentage (.962).

Cooney played a key role in helping Neumann pick up crucial league points on the road against William Smith College last weekend. The freshman made 57 saves on 59 shots on Friday, keeping the Knights in a contest they would eventually tie, 2-2. Cooney is the first Neumann skater to earn the league’s Rookie of the Week honor this season.
