ECAC Announces Corvias Women's Basketball Players of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the week ending Jan. 29.
 
DIVISION II
 
Player of the Week
Kristen Drogsler – Caldwell University, Jr.
 
Drogsler averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in a 1-1 week. She netted 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a loss to Bloomfield. Drogsler tallied 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a win over regionally-ranked USciences.
 
Rookie of the Week
Chelsea Rourke – Gannon University, Fr.
 
Rourke tallied a team-high 17 points in Gannon’s 64-63 victory over Slippery Rock. She went seven-of-11 from the field and hit two three-pointers. Over the last eight games Rourke has been averaging 10.9 points per game, including four double-digit performances.
 
DIVISION III – METRO
 
Player of the Week
Morgan McCollian – DeSales University, Sr., C
 
McCollian led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record in conference play averaging 24.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She finished the week shooting 68 percent (19-of-28) from the field and 92 percent (11-of-12) from the charity stripe. McCollian opened the week with her fourth double-double of the season scoring 20 points and collecting 12 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action in a 77-47 win over King’s. The senior then shot 12-of-14 (86 percent) from the field for a season-high 29 points with nine rebounds in a 65-56 road win over Eastern.
 
Rookie of the Week
De'Mean Bond – Kean University, Fr., C
 
Bond averaged a double-double 15.5 points, 22.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.5 blocks per game during a 2-0 week of conference play for the Cougars. She opened the week with a double-double which included 10 points and a career-high 23 rebounds in Kean’s 77-71 NJAC road win at Rutgers-Newark. Three days later, she tallied a double-double 21 points, 22 rebounds, three steals and four blocks in the Cougars’ sixth win in their last seven games - a 71-52 victory over Ramapo. Her rebounding performances during the week represent the highest and second-highest single-game totals by an NJAC player this season. Bond currently leads the NJAC in rebounding (12.3 boards per game).
 
DIVISION III – NEW ENGLAND
 
Player of the Week
Alycia Rackliffe – Framingham State University, Sr., C
 
Rackliffe averaged 24 points,13 rebounds, two steals, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks while shooting 75 percent (21-for-28) from the floor in a 2-0 week for the Rams. She scored 24 points with 10 boards, two steals and an assist while shooting 85 percent (11-for-13) from the floor in a 99-44 win over Fitchburg State. The senior scored 24 points with 16 rebounds and three blocks in a 95-59 win over Salem State.
 
Rookie of the Week
Kyra Rose – Fitchburg State University, Fr., G
 
Rose averaged 20.7 points, nine rebounds, three assists, 2.7 steals and 1.7 blocks in three games for the Falcons. She posted a double-double of 36 points and 13 rebounds as well as five assists, three steals and two blocks in a 94-89 overtime win over Dean College. Rose added nine points, four boards, two assists and one steal in a setback to Framingham State. The rookie concluded the week with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds to go along with two assists, four steals and three blocks in a setback to Westfield State.
 
DIVISION III – NORTH
 
Player of the Week
Devin Sorell – Clarkson University, Jr., G
 
Sorell averaged 26.5 points per game in a 2-0 weekend for Clarkson. Against Union, she scored 20 points with three three-pointers and a seven-for-nine showing at the free throw line. She followed that up with a game versus RPI, where she tied her career-high with 33 points, making four more three-pointers and going 13-for-15 from the line. She also added 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
 
Rookie of the Week
Rachel Benedict – Nazareth College, Fr., F
 
Benedict averaged 11 points on a 46.2 field goal percentage (12-for-26) and grabbed 13.3 rebounds in a 2-1 week for Nazareth. She scored 12 points (five-for-10) and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 71-56 win at Elmira. Last Thursday, she scored 11 points (three-for-six) and notched 15 rebounds in a 63-56 loss to Fisher. She closed out the week with 10 points (four-for-10) and 15 rebounds in a 74-39 victory over Alfred. After the three double-doubles this week, Benedict now has six on the season. Her 15 rebounds against Fisher and Alfred are both career-highs.
 
DIVISION III – SOUTH
 
Player of the Week
Sara Tarbert – Stevenson University, Sr., F
 
Tarbert averaged 28.5 points, 13 rebounds while shooting 52 percent (22-of-42) from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc. Tarbert had a dominating performance in an 84-63 win over Lebanon Valley, shooting 15-of-26 (58 percent) from the field and four-of-six (67 percent) from behind the arc for 39 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. The senior followed that up with a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds in a setback to Albright. Tarbert now has 20-straight double-doubles in 20 games this season. The senior’s 20 double-doubles are most this season across all three NCAA Divisions and across both genders.
 
Rookie of the Week
Aliya Gage – Westminster College, Fr., G
 
Gage registered the first double-double of her career in the overtime loss to Chatham, finishing with career highs in both points (23) and rebounds (11) while adding four assists and a pair of steals. She totaled 11 points, three boards and pair of assists in last Saturday’s win over Bethany. For last week she averaged 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists and shot 78.9 percent (15-of-19) from the floor.
