ECAC Announces Women's Gymnastics Weekly Awards

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its weekly award for women's gymnastics for the week of competition ending Feb. 12

Division I

Gymnast of the Week
Lyanda Dudley - Cornell University, So., Omaha, Nebraska

Dudley won the all-around with a record-setting score of 39.225 in Cornell's win over the University of Bridgeport, The College at Brockport and Ithaca College. Her score, which included a 9.9 on floor, broke the program record for highest all-around total. Dudley's efforts helped Cornell a program-record 194.45 team score.


Specialist of the Week
Kaitlin Green - Cornell University, So., Safety Harbor, Florida

Green had two strong routines to help Cornell to a record-setting team score. The sophomore scored 9.825 on bars and turned in a mark of 9.85.

Rookie of the Week
Caroline Caponi - College of William & Mary, Fr., Brookfield, Wisconsin

Caponi placed second in the all-around at the NC State quad meet that features UNC and Pitt, totaling a career-high 38.925. She tied for third on bars with a career-best 9.850, and recorded the team's top score on floor with a score at 9.775, also a career best.

Coaches Choice
Christina Luniewicz - Cornell University, So., Walpole, Massachusetts

Luniewicz had a collegiate debut to remember last weekend. Inserted into the lineup just before warm-ups, the sophomore scored a 9.7 on beam, with her mark counting towards a new team record in the event.

Division II

Gymnast of the Week
Maya Riemers - University of Bridgeport, Fr., New York, new York

Riemers finished first on beam in a meet that featured competitors from all three NCAA divisions, scoring a 9.875 to take top spot in the event. The freshman also scored a 9.875 on floor exercise, the third-highest mark in the competition.

Specialist of the Week
Myranda Marshall - West Chester University, So., Ephrata, Pennsylvania

Marshall tied her season-best score when she posted a 9.75 on bars for the Golden Rams over the weekend. The score, which was good enough for first place in the event, helped WCU break the team record for the event.

Rookie of the Week
Nina Whittaker - University of Bridgeport, Fr., Salem, New Hampshire

Whittaker tied a personal-best 9.8 on the vault in Bridgeport's meet with Cornell, Brockport and Ithaca. The scored tied her with teammate Hope Tralli for first in the event.

Coaches Choice
Kylyn Dawkins - Southern Connecticut State University, So., Bridgeton, New Jersey

Dawkins tallied top-10 finishes in the vault, beAm and floor in the Owls' meet against Brown, URI and RIC. Her beam score of 9.675 marked a new personal best for the sophomore.
