ECAC Announces Women's Gymnastics Weekly Award Recipients

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its weekly award for women’s gymnastics for the week of competition ending Feb. 5.
 
Division I
 
Gymnast of the Week
Daisy Todd – Temple University, Fr., San Jose, California
 
Todd earned season-highs on vault and floor with scores of 9.775 and 9.725 respectively. The freshman posted her second-highest all-around score of the season to take second overall in the all-around at the Ken Anderson Memorial Invitational. She also shared a piece of the bar title for her second individual event title of the season on the event. Todd's all-around performance led the Owls to a record-breaking 193.95 and a victory over Pitt for the first time since 1995.
 
 
Specialist of the Week
Tatiana Winkelman – Yale University, Sr., Lexington, Massachusetts
 
At Yale's Senior Meet versus Brown, Winkelman won beam with a 9.825 and had the second-highest score on uneven bars with a 9.8. Her bar score contributed to Yale's highest uneven bar team score in 14 years (and the third-highest in school history). Both Tatiana's scores were the second-highest scores of her career as a senior. Her scores helped lift Yale to their highest team beam score and highest overall team score of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jade Buford – Yale University, Fr., Coppell, Texas
 
Buford scored a season- and career-high on floor with a 9.85 for first place in Yale’s meet with Brown. The score marked the highest by an ECAC gymnast on any event last weekend. Buford also had a 9.725 on beam, contributing to season-highs for Yale as a team on beam and overall team score.
 
Coaches Choice
Allison Bushman – Yale University, Jr., Naperville, Illinois
 
Bushman scored a career-high 9.825 on uneven bars in Yale’s win over Brown last weekend, tying teammate Megan Ryan for top spot in the event.
 
Division II
 
Gymnast of the Week
Majesta Valentine – West Chester University, Sr., Wilmington, Delaware
 
Competing against Division I opponents from Temple and Pitt at the Ken Anderson Invitational, Valentine won the all-around with a score of 39.075. She also posted a win in the floor exercise (9.85) and tied for top spot on bars (9.775).  
 
Specialist of the Week
Brianna Comport – University of Bridgeport, Sr., Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania
 
Comport helped Bridgeport secure wins over Division I-foes Cornell, Penn and North Carolina State University, currently ranked at 28th in the nation, and Southern Connecticut State University in two separate competitions last week. The senior scored 9.9 on both the beam and floor against SCSU, good for top spot in both events, then followed with a 9.875 on beam and 9.9 on floor against N.C. State. Her beam score was good for first place, while she tied on floor with teammate Maya Reimers.
 
Rookie of the Week
Nina Whittaker – University of Bridgeport, Fr., Salem, New Hampshire
 
Whittaker scored a personal-best 9.8 on the vault in Bridgeport’s win over Southern Connecticut State, finishing second in the event to teammate Kimberly Stewart.
 
Coaches Choice
Kathleen Aberger – Southern Connecticut State University, Jr., Plano, Texas
 
Aberger registered another strong performance in the meet against UB, including a personal-best score on the beam (9.8). In all, she was Southern's top finisher on the bars (9.725), fourth overall, and also placed second on the beam.
