ECAC Announces Red Hill Award Recipients

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced Ned Conlan, Glen Wilson and John Zayanskosky as the 2016 Red Hill Award recipients. The award winners will be honored at the 2017 Eastern College Football Awards Banquet, which will be held on Feb. 23 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The Red Hill Award is named for the former ECAC football official of 29 years. Hill served as the Director of the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials (EAIFO) Boston Chapter for a dozen years. He also served as vice president and president of the EAIFO and was responsible for instituting many of the EAIFO policies. Over his career, Hill made numerous contributions to the EAIFO and collegiate football officiating in general. The award has been presented since 1999 and with 49 officials receiving the prestigious award in that time.

John Zayanskosky began his sports career officiating with the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) in 1982. He officiates football, basketball and baseball. His assignments included 21 State Playoff and Championship games. In 1986 Zayanskosky joined the ECAC and has enjoyed a 30-year career working NCAA football games. Which included four playoff games and three ECAC Bowl games. Most recently Zayanskosky worked the 2016 #ECACD3FBFEST Asa S. Bushnell Bowl at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA. between Frostburg State University and St. John Fisher College.

Ned Conlan started his officiating career in 1968 as part of the Western Connecticut Association. Conlan is currently a part of the New Haven Football Official Association and the EAIFO. He has served as president of the Western Connecticut Football Officials Association and the Connecticut Chapter of the EAIFO. Conlan officiated 15 years of DI FCS including two playoff games and four ECAC playoff games and. Conlan served as an ECAC College Football Official from 1978-2001.

Glen Wilson began officiating high school football in 1992. In 1995 he was invited to join EAIFO and began officiating Junior College and Division III games. In 2004, Wilson joined the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), to work games at the Division II level. In his first season, Wilson was selected to work the CIAA Conference Championship, a Division II first-round playoff game and the DII national championship game. In 2006 Wilson moved to the Division I FCS level, where he began working in the Atlantic 10 Conference, Ivy League and Patriot League adding the Colonial Athletic Conference to his resume in 2007. In 2009 he was elected director of the Southern Chapter of the EAIFO. Wilson was selected to work the national semifinal in 2012 and was was hired as a supplemental official in both the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the American Athletic Conference (AAC) in 2013 and 2014 respectively. In 2015 as a varsity staff member in the AAC, he was assigned to the Raycom Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, AL between Appalachian State and Ohio University while also serving as the president of the EAIFO.
