When ECAC President/CEO Dan Coonan decided the ECAC would take on a new initiative offering professional development events to members, he tasked me to come up with some ideas to help brand the initiative. I had big plans for the new project.
I wanted to identify a word that defined the ECAC’s purpose of this series. After some thought the word empowerment came to mind. Empowerment is the authority or power given to someone to become stronger and more confident in something. The word empowerment was the right fit to describe the goal of this initiative. We want attendees to walk away having gained insight about the industry, thus the
ECAC Empowerment Series was born.
When it came to designing the logo, I didn’t want to slap together random shapes. I wanted each element of the logo to symbolize the importance of the
ECAC Empowerment Series.
The shooting stars around the ECAC signify good luck, they symbolize a positive change or big event coming towards your life. There are three stars to represent the three pillars of the
ECAC Empowerment Series: networking, mentorship and leadership. The torch represents an emblem of enlightenment; the panelists of industry leaders are passing the torch of knowledge on to young professionals looking to advance their careers.
As a young professional, I believe that the Empowerment Series is the perfect opportunity for young adults like me to learn more about the industry from seasoned professionals who have experienced the highs and lows of working in sports and have ultimately come out on top.
I encourage anyone that is serious about pursuing a career in sports to attend this event. These panelists were once in our shoes and throughout their career they have shown that they have what it takes to succeed in this industry. Not only do you have a chance to learn, you also have the opportunity to network which is so valuable in this field.
The
