ECAC Announces Corvias Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 2.
 
DIVISION II
Track Athlete of the Week
Michael Brown – Lincoln University, Sr.
 
Brown recorded a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash at the Millersville Metrics Invitational with a time of 11.11. He also anchored Lincoln’s 4x100 relay to a first-place finish with a season-best time of 43.31. In the 200-meter dash, Brown finished second overall with a time of 22.41, just .05 off the winning time.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
D'Andrew Gursay – West Chester University, Jr.
 
Gursay registered his second first-place honor of the spring with a win in the long jump at the 34th Millersville Metrics on Saturday. The junior received the top spot with a leap of 21 feet, 5.25 inches.
 
Rookie of the Week
James Richardson – Lincoln University, Fr.
 
Richardson made his collegiate track and field debut on Saturday, finishing tied for second place in the high jump competition at the Millersville Metrics Invitational.  He cleared the bar at 1.95 meters (6 feet, 4.75 inches) in his first-ever high jump competition at any level.
 
DIVISION III - METRO
 
Track Athlete of the Week
Anthony Salemo – Rowan University, Jr.
 
Salemo traveled to Chester, Pennsylvania to compete at Widener University’s Danny Curran Invitational. He placed first in a field of 27 competitors in the 400-meter hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 53.43. He also competed as a member of the Profs’ 4x400 relay which finished first in a field of 14 teams with an ECAC-qualifying time of 3:21.37. The winning performance by Salemo in the 400-meter hurdles currently ranks as the fifth-best national time in the event in all of NCAA Division III this season.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Jared Lewis – Stockton University, Jr.
 
Lewis competed in the Ospreys’ own Stockton Invitational. He placed first in a field of eight competitors in the long jump with an ECAC-qualifying mark of 7.10 meters. He also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing first in a field of 22 runners with an ECAC-qualifying time of 23.28. He also was a member of Stockton’s 4x100 relay which finished second overall with a runner-up time of 43.66. The winning performance by Lewis in the long jump currently stands as the third-best national mark in the event in all of NCAA Division III this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jason Stefanski – Rowan University, Fr.
 
Stefanski competed at Widener University’s Danny Curran Invitational. He placed third in a field of 22 competitors in the 110-meter hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 15.34. He also finished sixth in a field of 22 runners in the 400 meter hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 56.42. Stefanski also was a member of the Profs’ 4x400 relay which finished first in a field of 14 teams with an ECAC-qualifying time of 3:21.27.
 
DIVISION III – NEW ENGLAND
 
Track Athlete of the Week
Rasheed Foster – Colby-Sawyer College, Sr.
 
Foster led the way for the Chargers at Sunday's Snowflake Classic hosted by Tufts, winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes. After posting the top time of 11.08 out of 47 runners in the 100 prelims, Foster then came away with the fastest time in the finals with 11.03, which currently ties him for fourth in the region. Then the senior picked up his second win of the day by besting 57 other competitors with a time of 22.34 in the 200 meter, which ranks him eighth in the region. Foster has qualified for both the New England Regional and ECAC Championships in both events.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Cameron Stalters – Fitchburg State University, So.
 
Stalters placed second overall in the javelin with an Open New England-qualifying mark of 63.87 meters (209 feet, 6 inches) at the UMass Dartmouth Classic. He currently ranks fourth nationally in the javelin with his mark from Saturday.
 
Rookie of the Week
Eric Hathaway – Husson University, Fr.
 
Hathaway displayed an incredible performance at the Corsair Classic hosted by UMass-Dartmouth this past weekend, setting three school records on the day. The rookie began the day with a school record and second-place performance in the shotput with a throw of 13.60 meters, which qualifies him for the New England Championships. His second program record came in the discus with a throw of 39.92 meters, good enough for a fourth-place finish in the event. Hathaway then capped off his record-setting day with another school record in the hammer throw, chucking the implement out to a mark of 34.87 meters.
 
DIVISION III - NORTH
 
Track Athlete of the Week
Peter Girardi – St. John Fisher College, Jr.
 
Girardi took first place in the 400-meter hurdles at the Battleground Relays on Saturday with a time of 51.84.  His time is currently first in the nation by nearly half a second.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Mitch Obenrader – Penn State Behrend, Sr.
 
Obenrader won the javelin with 61.42 meters. He then went on to win the shotput with a toss of 17.21 meters setting the stadium record and then placed second overall in the discus with a with 46.45 meter throw. All three are top in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Terrence Lawrence – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Jr.
 
In his first season competing, Lawrence had a strong appearance at the 18-school, multi-divisional Tufts Snowflake Classic. Lawrence was second in the high jump and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, helping the Engineers to a second-place finish with 104.5 points. He reached 1.93 meters in the high jump, defeating 17 others for second place. In the 15-person 110 hurdles, Terrence crossed in 15.74, which was good for fourth place.
 
DIVISION III - SOUTH
 
Track Athlete of the Week
Andre Butler – Bethany College
 
At Saturday’s Bethany Invitational, Butler won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.36 seconds and claimed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.27.
 
Field Athlete of the Week
Jarrod Webb – Washington & Jefferson College, So.
 
At Saturday's Bethany Invitational, Webb won the shotput with a throw of 47 feet, 7 inches (14.50 meters). He also finished fifth in the discus (132 feet, 10 inches).

Rookie of the Week
Grant McCarthy – Washington & Jefferson College, Fr.

McCarthy posted a first-place finish in the 10,000-meter run Saturday at the Bethany Invitational, logging a meet-record time of 33 minutes, 4.78 seconds.
