BOX SCORE

GLENSIDE, Pa. -
Top-seeded Arcadia University outlasted New York University, 2-1 in 10 innings, to advance to the 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Softball Championship Game on Sunday.

Kylee Schwind picked up the win for the Knights, throwing all 10 innings and striking out six while allowing just one run on four hits. The Violets' Scarlett Murphy received credit for the loss, going five innings in relief and striking out four while allowing just one run.

Arcadia's Jackie Bilotti had a game-high two hits, while Mary Pat Murray and Bekah Good each had an RBI for the Knights. NYU's Jacqueline Finn provided the offense for the Violets, smashing a home run for her squad's only run.

After both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings, Arcadia got on the board in the bottom of the third inning.

With two out and runners on first and second, Murray laced a single into left field, scoring Bilotti from second to put the Knights in front, 1-0. Arcadia threatened for more in the bottom of the third, but NYU's Cassi Parulis forced Julia Gessner to foul out with runners on second and third to end the threat.

The score held at 1-0 until the top of the seventh, when Finn stepped up with two out and the bases clear. With a 2-2 count, Finn turned on a fastball and drove it over the fence in left field to tie the game, 1-1.

The game held at 1-1 until the 10th inning. With Kaylee Zarick on second to start the inning due to the NCAA tiebreaking rule, Kayla Resh moved her to third with a bunt. Good then stepped in as a pinch hitter and lined a frozen rope to left field. Claire Stefanelli made a diving catch on the sinking liner and quickly threw back in, but Zarick beat the throw as she tagged from third to score the game-winning run.

Arcadia moves on to the ECAC DIII Softball Championship Game, and will face the winner of Stockton University and Penn State Altoona.
