ECAC Announces Corvias Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week for the week ending April 30.
 
DIVISION II
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Liam Brennan – Pace University, Jr., A
 
Brennan closed out the regular season in grand fashion, totaling nine points in an 18-8 victory at home over Franklin Pierce. He scored a season-high six goals and dished out a trio of assists to help lead Pace to its sixth-straight win heading into the postseason.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Robert Beshlian – Pace University, Jr., GK
 
Beshlian stopped five shots to pick up his 11th win of the season last Friday against Franklin Pierce. Beshlian finishes the regular season ranked second in the NE10 with a .585 save percentage and fourth with an 8.29 goals-against average.
 
DIVISION III – NORTH
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Sam Houston-Read – Vassar College, Sr., A
 
Houston-Read had a banner week for the Brewers, lifting Vassar to a pair of wins, catapulting VC into the Liberty League playoffs for the first time in program history. For the week, Houston-Read chalked up 12 total points, scoring once and dishing out a team-high four assists in a 19-4 win over Bard. On Saturday with the season on the line, Houston-Read was even better, as he chalked up five goals and two assists for seven points in a 20-10 win over Union. The victory was the first ever over the Dutchmen and gave the Brewers the No. 3 seed in the Liberty League Tournament. He also picked up four ground balls and needed just nine shots to score his six goals.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Dallas Meyers – College at Brockport, Jr., GK
 
Meyers was crucial in leading the Green and Gold to their 2-0 finish, starting last week with a 7-6 road win over SUNY Geneseo and finishing strong with a 9-8 win over Oswego. On the week, Meyers saw all 120 minutes of action, with seven saves against the Knights, adding one ground ball. Against a charging Oswego, Meyers played lights out, making and impressive 17 saves against 45 shots faced for a save percentage of 68 percent. The junior added five ground balls in the win. Meyers recorded a save percentage of better than 60 percent on the week.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jake Stebbins – Curry College, Fr.,
 
Stebbins played a huge role in the Colonels’ road playoff victory against No. 4 seed Roger Williams on Saturday. He scored two goals in the contest including a late tally that broke an 8-8 tie and would prove to be the game-winner. He also had four ground balls in that contest.
 
DIVISION III – SOUTH
 
Offensive Player of the Week
JT Thelen – Stevenson University, So., A
 
Thelen led the No. 14 Mustangs to a 1-1 week with nine points on seven goals and two assists. Thelen opened the week with two goals and an assist in a tough 7-5 setback to No. 18 Stevens. The sophomore ended the week on a high note, scoring five goals, including the game-winner, with an assist in a 14-10 win over Messiah in the battle for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Dan Decker – Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, Sr., D
 
Decker become the program leader in caused turnovers in the Devils’ 13-12 win over Manhattanville. Decker totaled four caused turnovers and added 11 ground balls in the win. He then totaled 12 ground balls and one caused turnover in an 11-4 win over Wilkes. Decker finished the week with five caused turnovers and 23 ground balls to lead the Devils to a postseason berth.
 
Rookie of the Week
Ben Price – Saint Vincent College, Fr., A
 
Price registered four goals, two assists and six ground balls in two Ohio River Lacrosse Conference contests last week. Price also contributed four caused turnovers in the Bearcats victories.
