Hubbard, Deragon, Schof, Beville Claim Awards to Headline DIII North Men's Lacrosse All-ECAC Selections

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2017 Division III North Men’s Lacrosse Awards and All-ECAC selections.
 
Ryan Hubbard of Plattsburgh State College was tabbed the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, while Jack Deragon of Ithaca College took home the Defensive Player of the Year honor. SUNY Oswego freshman Tim Schof collected the ECAC Rookie of the Year award, and SUNY Cortland Head Coach Steve Beville was named ECAC Coach of the Year to round out the major awards.

Hubbard’s offensive honor comes after the junior helped the Cardinals win the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title and reach the NCAA tournament. The attackman led all SUNYAC players with 47 goals, and finished the regular season and conference tournament with a total of 63 points in 17 games. The junior had three game-winning goals, second most on the Plattsburgh roster, and also scooped up 33 ground balls in that span.

Deragon appeared in 12 games for the Bombers, starting 11 of those contests, and assembled a 9-3 record in those outings. The senior compiled a 7.62 goals-against average and a 58.3 percent save percentage to lead the Empire 8 in both categories, and posted six games of 10 saves or more. Deragon is also the second Ithaca goalkeeper in as many years to earn First Team All-ECAC recognition, following Scott Sidnam in 2016.

Schof established himself as one of the Lakers’ most consistent performers in 2017. The freshman totaled 31 points on 12 goals and 19 assists in 15 games played, recording at least a point in every game but one for Oswego. The midfielder closed the year on a strong run, tallying multiple points in the Lakers’ final six games of the season.

Beville collects his ECAC Coach of the Year honor after winning the same award in the SUNYAC for the fifth time in his career. Beville led his Cortland charges to a 15-2 overall mark and a 6-0 record in SUNYAC play, as the Red Dragons claimed their eighth-consecutive regular-season conference title. Under his stewardship, 10 Cortland players were named to All-SUNYAC teams, highlighted by a league-best eight selections to the first team.
