Albany's Snow, JMU's Good, UMass Lowell's Cashman Lead 2017 DI Softball Awards and All-ECAC Selections
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2017 Division I Softball Awards and All-ECAC selections.
Elizabeth Snow of the University at Albany was voted ECAC Player of the Year, and Megan Good of James Madison University retained the award for Pitcher of the Year. UMass Lowell freshman Courtney Cashman collected the ECAC Rookie of the Year honor, with Saint Francis University Head Coach Jennifer Patrick-Swift rounding out the major accolades with the Coach of the Year award.

Snow proved to be one of the nation’s top offensive catchers in her senior season, and was named America East Player of the Year for her efforts. In 45 games during the regular season and America East tournament, Snow batted .439 with 46 RBIs and 35 extra-base hits, highlighted by 13 home runs; over that span, the senior ranked second nationally in slugging percentage (.982). Snow broke multiple program career records in 2017, including doubles, RBIs and home runs, and was recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Northeast Region Second Team. This marks Snow’s second All-ECAC First Team selection in as many years.

Good repeats as ECAC Pitcher of the Year in a season that saw her become the first player in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) history to win both CAA Player and CAA Pitcher of the Year. The right-hander went 36-1 in 40 appearances during the regular season and CAA tournament, posting a miniscule 0.48 ERA and fanning 255 in 219.2 innings pitched. Good was the CAA Pitcher of the week on seven occasions in 2017, and was named CAA Championship Most Outstanding Player after leading the Dukes to the conference title. In addition to her ECAC honors, Good is one of three finalists for the 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and was a First Team NFCA All-Northeast Region selection. This honor is her third major award from the ECAC in as many years; she won Pitcher of the Year in 2016, and was named ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2015.

Cashman enjoyed a strong debut campaign for the River Hawks, earning America East Rookie of the Year and First Team honors as a rookie. The shortstop led all America East hitters with a .430 batting average, and also ranked in the top three in slugging percentage (.696) and on-base percentage (.483). Cashman was recognized for her efforts throughout the season, earning conference Rookie of the Week on four occasions.
Patrick-Swift takes home ECAC Coach of the Year after winning the corresponding award in the Northeast Conference. Under her guidance, Saint Francis went 48-9 (16-0 NEC) during the regular season and conference tournament, setting a new program and NEC record for wins in a single season. Patrick-Swift helped place nine student-athletes on All-NEC teams at the end of the season, highlighted by five first-team selections and three major awards for the Red Flash.
