Waynesburg Crowned DIII ECAC Women's Soccer Champions

WAYNESBURG, PA. - The Waynesburg University women’s soccer team capped off its season with a 1-0 victory over Keene State in the 2025 DIII ECAC Women’s Soccer Championship on Saturday evening. The title match was played on the Yellow Jackets’ home field inside John F. Wiley Stadium.

The first half of action saw an even back-and-forth affair with both sides playing to a 0-0 score at intermission. In the opening 45 minutes, Keene State had eight shots, while Waynesburg had six shots of its own.

However, Waynesburg broke through for the match’s lone score in the 55th minute of play as Hailey Gilchrest notched her fifth goal of the season. The Owls turned up the heat in the second period after the early deficit and fired off 17 shots, including nine on goal, across the final 45 minutes of play.

Yellow Jacket keeper Lex Greenlief was a wall between the pipes, collecting 14 total saves in the shutout.

Waynesburg finishes the 2025 season with a 17-3-2 record, while Keene State concludes the year with a 10-6-6 mark.
