Yale downs Columbia in ECAC Indoor Championship rematch

PHILADELPHIA –  The Eastern College Athletic Conference crowned a new women’s indoor tennis champion on Sunday afternoon, with Yale pulling off a 4-2 victory over Columbia to take home the trophy. The two teams have met in the finals in back-to-back seasons, and the Bulldogs have now won five straight matches.
 
Columbia earned the doubles points with victories in the second and third flights, and Gayathri Krishnan pushed the lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win on singles Court 3. Julia Werdiger put Yale on the board after taking #4 singles 6-3, 6-2, but that would be as close as the Lions would get to a championship.
 
Yale sophomore Erin Ha pulled the Bulldogs even after knocking off Winta Tewolde on Court 5, and Angela Huang followed with a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the sixth flight to move a point closer to clinch. Orly Ogilvy closed out the weekend with a 6-3, 6-4 win in the top singles flight, giving Yale
 
Earlier in the day, Cornell and Dartmouth met in the fifth-place match, while Penn defeated Brown 4-2 in the seventh-place match. Princeton finished in third place after defeating Harvard 4-2.
