The Sweet Briar College Vixens won the 2025 ECAC Division III Women’s Tennis Championship Saturday afternoon, defeating Baruch College, 4-1.

Sweet Briar won the doubles point, securing victories at second and third doubles. Ari Cope and Maggie Minton put the Vixens up 1-0 in doubles play with a clinical, 6-1, win at third doubles, then Lucia Bovard and Juli Caracciolo secured the doubles point for Sweet Briar with a 6-4 win at second doubles. The first doubles match went unfinished as the point was already secured, with Baruch’s Ava Deguzman and Natalie Bergmann leading 5-4.

The six singles matches hit the court, with Sweet Briar needing just three of them to go their way to clinch the championship. The Vixens took two steps closer to getting that job done with 6-0, 6-0 victories from Bovard and then Cope at the fifth and sixth singles positions, respectively.

Deguzman was able to get Baruch on the board, winning 6-2, 6-0 at first singles, but the Bearcats needed to win every match on the court to overcome the 3-1 deficit and pull out the victory. Aishika Yaday had won the first set for Baruch at third singles, but Sweet Briar held advantages in both the second and fourth singles matches with Alex Guilarte and Minton both winning their first sets. Minton rolled in her second set to defeat Maria Calvo, 6-1, 6-0, and clinch the 2025 ECAC Championship for her Vixens.
