CAMDEN, N.J. – The first round of the 2026 ECAC DIII Women’s Basketball Championship took place on Saturday, with #4 Rutgers-Camden defeating #5 Cedar Crest by a final of 63-36 in the last quarterfinal matchup of the day. The Raptors will advance to face top seed McDaniel College in the semifinals next weekend, with the winner securing a berth in the title game the following day.
Rutgers-Camden improves to 15-13 for the year, while Cedar Crest’s season comes to a close at 18-9.
Both teams struggled offensively to begin the game, combining for just 13 points and a 6-of-31 effort from the floor over the first ten minutes. The Raptors then found a rhythm, going on a 21-4 run in the second quarter to carry a 25-13 lead into the locker room at the half.
Rutgers-Camden never looked back after the break, going up by as many as 31 points in third quarter. The Falcons shot 56% from the floor in the final quarter, but the comeback attempt fell short.
Tamyia Collier came of the bench to lead all scorers with 15 points, while Rutgers-Camden teammate Courtney Edmundo followed with 13 of her own. The latter added five steals and a team-high nine rebounds, falling just one shy of a double-double.
The Raptors outrebounded the Falcons 48-43 for the night while winning the turnover battle by a margin of 22-15. Rutgers-Camden knocked down six triples for the night against Cedar Crest’s two, and the Raptors connected on 54% from the free throw line.
