The Race for “The Betty” Is Down to Four
After an electric first day of championship action, the ECAC/Jets Women’s Flag Football Championship is down to its Final Four. Franciscan, Montclair State, Marymount, and Eastern have all punched their tickets to Championship Sunday, each now just two wins away from making history and raising “The Betty” as the inaugural league champion.
The opening round delivered plenty of excitement. Mount St. Mary’s defeated Wagner 24-13 before running into a strong Franciscan squad that advanced with a 25-12 victory. Franciscan now faces #1 Montclair State at 10:00 a.m. in a semifinal showdown packed with championship stakes.
In the day’s most dramatic game, St. Joseph’s outlasted Mercyhurst in a thrilling overtime battle to advance, earning a matchup with #3 Eastern, where they lost 31-7. Eastern will now meet Marymount at 12:00 p.m., with a spot in the championship game on the line.
Then, at 2:00 p.m., history will be made. Two teams will compete for the right to become the first-ever ECAC/Jets Women’s Flag Football Champion and raise The Betty.
