Penn State Altoona Uses 11-run Inning to Win 2009 ECAC DIVISION III South Baseball Championship


After finishing the regular-season with a 29-11 record, Wilkes University was selected as the number one seed in the 2009 ECAC Division III South Baseball Championship. The tournament is a six-team field with quarterfinal, semifinal and championship rounds.

In the first round contests on Wednesday, May 13, No. 3 Delaware Valley College (21-12) plays Neumann College (21-19-1) at 3 p.m. at Delaware Valley and Frostburg State (25-15) will take on Wesley College (24-16-1) at 3 p.m. in the No. 4/No. 5 match-up at Frostburg State.

The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Friday, May 15 at Wilkes.  The winner of Frostburg State/Wesley will face Wilkes at 9 a.m. in one semifinal, and the winner of Delaware Valley/Neumann will play No. 2 Penn State Altoona (30-17) at 12 p.m. in the other semifinal.  The semifinal winners will meet at 3 p.m. for the championship on Friday.
