Top Moments in ECAC History: Loyola University Maryland Wins 2012 Division I Men's Lacrosse National Championship
The Loyola University Maryland Men’s Lacrosse team entered the 2012 season unranked in both the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Coaches Poll. Inside Lacrosse picked the Greyhounds as the 21st best team in the country and predicted they would finish in a tie for second place in the ECAC Lacrosse League. In response to his team’s initial ranking, coach Charley Toomey made his team run 21 sprints, one for each team picked to finish ahead of his. What ensued was a near perfect season en route to the 2012 NCAA Division I National Championship.
