ECAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Awards - April 17, 2012

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division II-III (regional) men's lacrosse weekly awards for the period April 9-15, which ended Sunday:

Division II

Offensive Player of the Week

Pete Donnally – Saint Michael’s College
Junior, Attack, Madison, N.J.

Donnally reached the 100-point plateau for his career during a six-goal weekend.  The junior tallied four goals against Franklin Pierce before adding two goals, including the game-winner, in a 7-5 win over Pace.

Defensive Player of the Week

Eric Janssen – Adelphi University
Senior, Goalkeeper, Hicksville, N.Y.

Janssen made 18 saves over two games while allowing three goals during 76 minutes between the pipes.  Adelphi went 2-0 during that stretch, landing in third place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings.

Division III New England

Offensive Player of the Week

Steve Parsons – New England College
Sophomore, Attack, Tonswend, Mass.

Parsons recorded 14 points, tallying 11 goals and three assists, to help lead the Pilgrims to three conference wins.  Against Castleton State College, the sophomore scored four goals and added an assist en route to a 16-12 win.

Defensive Player of the Week

Josh Dubinsky – Eastern Connecticut State University
Junior, Midfield, Woodstock, Conn.

Dubinsky dominated the “X” last week for the Warriors, winning 68 percent of his face-off attempts (29-for-42).  The junior proved to be the catalyst of a big win over Plymouth State, as he went 21-for-26 in face-offs and picked up 15 ground balls.  The Warriors defeated Plymouth State, 13-9, to give the Panthers their first conference loss of the year.

Division III Mid-Atlantic

Offensive Player of the Week

Tony Mendes – Salisbury University
Senior, Attack, Chapel Hill, N.C.

Mendes scored eight goals and added two assists in a 2-0 week for Salisbury.  After scoring four goals in a 24-3 win over Wesley, the senior netted the game-tying goal at 10-all in an 11-10 win over then-No. 4 Stevenson.  The Gulls rallied from a 9-3 deficit to remain undefeated in Capital Athletic Conference play.

Defensive Player of the Week

Patrick Johnson – Misericordia University
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Montville, N.J.

Johnson held a pair of opponents to six goals during a 2-0 week for the Cougars.  The freshman made 24 saves in net over the two games, seeing 33 shots during a 9-6 win over USMMA and 34 in a 13-5 win over Manhattanville.
