ECAC Softball Weekly Awards - April 10, 2012

CENTERVILLE, Mass.--The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division I-II-III (regional) softball weekly awards for the April 2-8 period, which ended Sunday:

Division I

Hitter of the Week

Charlise Castro  -- University at Albany
Sophomore, Infielder, Saugerties, N.Y.

Castro hit a scalding .682 over a 6-0 week for the Great Danes.  The sophomore hit four doubles, two triples and four home runs, with 13 runs batted in while scoring 12 runs.  The America East leader in batting average (.476), home runs (11) and RBI (35) has helped Albany to an 11-game winning streak.

Pitcher of the Week

Allison Cukrov – Stony Brook University
Freshman, Pitcher/First Baseman, Irvine, Calif.

Cukrov threw the third perfect game in the Division I history of the Stony Brook program, striking out 12 of the 15 batters she faced in a 9-0, five-inning win over Manhattan.  Over the week, the freshman struck out 21 batters in 12 innings of work, and currently leads the America East Conference with a 1.17 earned-run average.

Division III New England

Hitter of the Week

Ali Graebner – Williams College
Sophomore, Outfield, Short Hills, N.J.

Graebner batted .667 during a three-game sweep of Wesleyan, recording a .727 on-base percentage to lead the Ephs.  The sophomore hit a double, triple and home run, driving in 11 runs.  Graebner nearly hit for the cycle in a 3-for-3 performance during last Friday’s 18-4 win.  Then she went 3-for-6 with a home run and five RBI during a doubleheader sweep on Saturday.

Pitcher of the Week

Allyson Fournier – Tufts University
First-Year, Pitcher, South Windsor, Conn.

Fournier struck out nine en route to a six-inning perfect game to lead the Jumbos to an 8-0 win over Trinity on Friday.  The first-year pitcher finished the week 2-0, allowing no runs and only two hits while striking out 26. She also struck out 17 in a win over Babson, 2-0.

Division III Upstate

Hitter of the Week

Meaghan Kohler – SUNY Cortland
Sophomore, Outfielder, Franklin, N.J.

Kohler finished a 6-0 week for the No. 14 Red Dragons with 17 RBI off of nine hits, including one double and four home runs.  The sophomore launched a grand slam against Buffalo State, knocking in five runs in both ends of the double-header.  Kohler hit a pair of home runs in a 6-1 win over Fredonia on Friday.

Pitcher of the Week

Ashley Marshall -- Plattsburgh State
Junior, Pitcher, Malone, N.Y.

Marshall went 3-0 on the weekend, recording a 0.78 ERA while striking out 22 batters.  In a 4-0 win over Oneonta, the junior threw a complete-game shutout, allowing three hits and walking one while striking out 12 in seven innings of work.  Marshall finished a doubleheader sweep against New Paltz with two earned runs and six hits over eight innings, striking out 10 during one relief appearance and one start.

Division III Metro

Hitter of the Week

Alyse LaPadula – SUNY Purchase
Senior, Infielder, New Rochelle, N.Y.

LaPadula batted .800 during the week, collecting 11 RBI off of five doubles and eight runs.  The senior went 9-for-9 against St. Lawrence, finishing the week with a scorching 1.200 slugging percentage.

Pitcher of the Week

Alyssa Clancy – SUNY Old Westbury
Junior, Pitcher, Remsenburg, N.Y.

Clancy led the Panthers to a 3-1 week with a 0.50 ERA, pitching to a 2-0 record while allowing only seven hits and one earned run.  The junior recorded her 16th career shutout in an 8-0 win over Lehman and added a complete game victory over St. Joseph’s Long Island, 8-1, on Sunday, striking out 10.

Division III South

Hitter of the Week

Kristi Seiler – Misericordia University
Freshman, Infielder, Slatington, Pa.

Seiler hit .600 in a 3-1 week for the Cougars.  The freshman had a pair of walk-off hits against Wilkes, winning an extra inning, 8-7 decision with a double before launching a three-run home run in a 14-5, five-inning win.  Seiler finished the week with 10 RBI and a 1.067 slugging percentage.

Pitcher of the Week

Allison Stugart – Penn State Altoona
Sophomore, Pitcher, South Williamsport, Pa.

Stugart threw a perfect game last Tuesday against Franciscan University, striking out five en route to the third Nittany Lions perfect game in the last three games.  The sophomore struck out 11 batters in four appearances, earning two wins during the week.
