ECAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards - April 24, 2012

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division II-III (regional) women's lacrosse weekly awards for April 24, for the period ending Sunday:

Division II

Offensive Player of the Week

Jackie Sileo – Long Island University - C.W. Post
Sophomore, Forward, Wantagh, N.Y.

Sileo led the Pioneers to a 2-0 week on the back of three goals and 12 assists. On Wednesday, the sophomore scored a goal and dished out five assists in a decisive victory over the University of Bridgeport. She followed up that performance by putting in two goals and adding seven assists in a 15-13 victory over Stonehill College.

Division III – New England Region

Offensive Player of the Week

Amanda Naimie – New England College
Senior, Midfielder, York, Maine

Naimie led New England College to a 4-0 week, totaling 20 goals and six assists to become the Pilgrims all-time goals leader with 177 career goals. Naimie’s most impressive performance of the week came in a 13-7 victory over Curry College as she had a hand in eight of her team’s goals. She also led the team in ground balls (30) and draw controls (11) for the week.

Defensive Player of the Week

Taylor Clancy – Bridgewater State University
Sophomore, Midfielder, Braintree, Mass.

Clancy led the defensive charge in a 2-1 week for the Bears, picking up 13 ground balls, 14 draw controls and seven caused turnovers, as well as contributing five goals and two assists on the offensive front. The sophomore had four ground balls, three draws and two caused turnovers as well as a goal and two assists in a 9-5 triumph over conference opponent Westfield State University. She also was instrumental in holding Massachusetts Maritime Academy to a single goal with six ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers in the victory. Clancy was also spectacular in a 12-11 losing effort to Mount Holyoke College with three ground balls, eight draw controls and two caused turnovers as well as adding three goals and two assists.

Division III – Mid-Atlantic Region

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Karen Shaddock – Buffalo State College
Senior, Attack, Corning, N.Y.

Shaddock became one of just five players in NCAA Division III history to score 400 career points. She set a school record with 10 goals in a single game against SUNY Geneseo and tied the school benchmark with 12 points in the 17-11 triumph over the Blue Knights. Her 18 goals and 3 assists on the week raised her to third in NCAA DIII history with 415 career points.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Lindsay Abbott – SUNY Cortland
Senior, Midfielder, South Onondaga, N.Y.

Abbott joined Shaddock last week in becoming one of just five players in NCAA Division III history to record 400 career points. She reached the milestone in a decisive victory over SUNY Potsdam in which she recorded four goals and three assists. Abbott raised her career point total to 404 with seven goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Red Dragons.

Defensive Player of the Week

Danielle Puzio – Morrisville State College
Freshman, Goalie, Holbrook, N.Y.

Puzio registered 34 saves for a .576 save percentage and an 8.33 goals-against average to help the Mustangs to a 3-0 week in conference play. She made 16 saves in a 22-10 victory over Medaille College and added six in a 19-5 win over Wells College. She finished the week with a 12-save performance in a 13-10 victory over Keuka College.
