ECAC Announces the Hiring of Four New Basketball Coordinators
CENTERVILLE, Mass. — The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Officiating Bureau has announced the hiring of four new Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coordinators for the 2013-2014 season. Jim Huetter, Jon Levinson, Kathy Lynch, and Tom Reinisch have recently begun their tenures with the ECAC. Huetter, Lynch and Reinisch will work with both the men’s and women’s officials in the Upstate New York region, while Levinson will work with the women’s officials in the Metro New York-New Jersey region. All four of the coordinators will serve under and report directly to ECAC Field Director of Basketball Officials, Larry Last.

Top Moments in ECAC History: 1977 ECAC Division I New England Men's Basketball Championship
From 1973-1981, the Eastern College Athletic Conference administered Division I Basketball Championships in the New England, Metro New York-New Jersey and Upstate-Southern regions. These tournaments would effectively determine the NCAA Division I automatic qualifier among the eastern independents for the NCAA Tournament. In the third edition of the Division I Basketball Championships, the New England region was one of the most highly anticipated tournaments in the Championships’ brief history. The field featured the University of Connecticut, Fairfield University, the College of the Holy Cross and Providence College. The Huskies, Crusaders and Friars were all making their second-consecutive appearance in the tournament, while the Stags were in the New England Final Four for the first time in the tournament’s history. After Holy Cross ousted Connecticut in the opening round and Providence defeated Fairfield, it set up a championship game that would feature some of the best college basketball players in the nation.

Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament Set to Feature Three ECAC Teams
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The 2013 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament will feature three Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) member institutions, as Fairfield University, Hofstra University and the College of the Holy Cross will take part in the eight-team tournament. The annual NCAA men’s exempt tournament sponsored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) will be Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The remaining teams scheduled to participate in the tournament are Belmont University, University of Hartford, University of Louisville, University of North Carolina and the University of Richmond.

ECAC Mourns the Loss of Edgar Cartotto
CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) joins the rest of the college basketball community in mourning the loss of Edgar “Ed” Cartotto. Cartotto, a longtime member of the ECAC Officiating Bureau and the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association (CBOA), passed away last week.

ECAC to Partner with Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival presented by Advance Auto Parts and Honor Five Legends
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – For the second consecutive year, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) is partnering with the Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival presented by Advance Auto Parts, and will honor five legendary figures in collegiate athletics. The 2013 Holiday Festival will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Top Moments in ECAC History: 1964 ECAC Holiday Festival Semifinal
Just before the calendar turned from 1964 to 1965, six of the nation’s premiere college basketball teams descended upon New York City for the 13th annual ECAC Holiday Festival at Madison Square Garden. The tournament also featured the country’s two best players, as Princeton University’s Bill Bradley and University of Michigan’s Cazzie Russell were National Player of the Year candidates and both had participated in the 1964 Olympic Trials. After Bradley and the Tigers had knocked off Syracuse University and Russell and the Wolverines beat Manhattan College, it set up the matchup everyone in college basketball was hoping for.

Anosike and Della Donne Named 2013 ECAC Division I Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award Winners
CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Commissioner Dr. Kevin T. McGinniss announced today that O.D. Anosike (Staten Island, NY) of Siena College and Elena Delle Donne (Wilmington, DE) of the University of Deleware have been named the Robbins/ECAC 2013 Division I Scholar Athlete Award winners. Anosike and Delle Donne will be recognized at the 2013 ECAC Honors Dinner, held in conjunction with the 25th Annual ECAC Convention and Trade Show that will be held September 29-October 1 at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth, Mass.
