ECAC and University of Bridgeport Partner to Sponsor ECAC Division II Men's Basketball Holiday Classic


Bridgeport, CT-The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the University of Bridgeport Department of Athletics have joined forces to co-sponsor the ECAC DII Men's Basketball Holiday Classic which will be played in UB's Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 18 and 19, 2007.

The 2007 ECAC DII Men's Basketball Holiday Classic will feature the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, the St. Anselm College Hawks (Manchester, NH), the Concordia (NY) College Clippers (Bronxville, NY) and the Post University Eagles (Waterbury, CT).

"We are extremely excited that the ECAC has partnered with us to help put on perhaps the best two consecutive days of Division II men's college basketball in the state of Connecticut this year," said University of Bridgeport Director of Athletics and ECAC Board of Directors member, Jay Moran.  "Many people are familiar with the numerous championships that the ECAC puts on throughout the year and the ECAC Holiday Festival Basketball Tournament held in Madison Square Garden.  Co-sponsoring this event continues to show the organization's commitment to intercollegiate athletics at all levels."

"The ECAC is excited to partner with Bridgeport to host this tournament," said ECAC commissioner Rudy Keeling. "It has always been a first-class tournament and we hope our involvement will help to make it the top Division II tournament in New England."
