Player of the Week
Maalik Wayns – Villanova University
Junior, Guard, Philadelphia, Pa.
Wayns averaged 26.5 points per game in a pair of BIG EAST wins for the Wildcats, shooting 91.3 percent from the free throw line during that span. In an 84-76 win over Seton Hall on Wednesday, the junior scored 24 points. Wayns then shot 10-of-18 from the floor, totaling 28 points in a 79-76 overtime road win at St. John’s on Saturday.

Player of the Week
Vaughn Allen – Long Island University – C.W.

Allen averaged 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game to lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 record last weekend, maintaining the team’s 7-0 start to East Coast Conference (ECC) play. In an 80-64 win over Queens on Wednesday, the sophomore scored 17 points and grabbed eight boards. Against the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday, Allen scored 23 points and collected 23 rebounds in a 92-85 Pioneers’ victory.

Player of the Week
Pat Flanagan – Roger Williams

Senior, Center, Somerville, Mass.
Flanagan recorded three straight double-doubles last week, averaging 24.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game during a 2-1 week for the Hawks. The senior hit his first 11 shots from the field, finishing a 79-75 win over Nichols on Tuesday with 34 points and 12 boards. After a 22-point, 13-rebound performance in a 69-68 setback to Western New England on Thursday, Flanagan concluded his week with 16 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks in a win over Salve Regina, 75-72, on Saturday.

Player of the Week
Jake Simmons – Buffalo State College
Junior, Guard, Rochester, N.Y.
Simmons tied a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record with nine 3-pointers during the Bengals’ 110-68 win over Plattsburgh on Saturday. The junior’s 37 points against the Cardinals was one shy of a career high. His 3-point shooting day was the best SUNYAC performance since Geneseo’s Steve McDonnell hit nine 3-pointers in 2006. On Friday, Simmons scored 16 points in an 86-63 win over Potsdam.
Division III – Metro Region

Kyle Stockmal – New York University
Junior, Guard, Watertown, Mass.
Stockmal led the Violets to their first-ever sweep of the University Athletic Association (UAA) midwest trip, averaging 25.0 points per game. The junior ended the week shooting 83.3 percent (15-of-18) from the field and 91.7 percent (11-of-12) from three-point range. Stockmal scored a career-high 26 points in an 81-71 win over the University of Chicago on Friday, hitting seven of eight 3-pointers, one off the school record. The junior then finished the week with a 24-point performance in a win at Washington University, 89-75, on Sunday. The win marked the second time in program history that the Violets beat the Bears on the road.

Tavon McNair – SUNY College at Old

Senior, Center, Brooklyn, N.Y.
McNair earned his second consecutive ECAC honors by averaging 32.0 points and 15.0 rebounds per game for the Panthers during a 1-1 week. In an 88-85 loss to St. Joseph’s of Long Island, the senior scored 30 points and nabbed 14 boards. McNair followed that performance with a career-best 34 points to go along with 16 rebounds in a win over Sage, 97-70, on Saturday.
Division III – South Region
Player of the Week
Reece Mabery – Bethany College
Junior, Guard, Natrona Heights, Pa.
Mabery averaged 20.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting a perfect 13-of-13 from the free-throw line during a 2-0 week for the Bison. In a 77-63 win over Saint Vincent on Wednesday, the junior rattled off a game-high 27 points, including a 4-of-6 shooting night from three-point range and a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe. Mabery then helped lead the Bison to a two-game lead for second place in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) with a 14-point, six-rebound performance in a 78-57 win over Grove City.
