Women's Basketball Players of the Week - Feb. 7, 2012

CENTERVILLE, Mass.--The Eastern College Athletic Conference Tuesday announced the women's basketball players of the week for Divisions I, II and III (four regions), for the period ending Feb. 5.

Division I Player of the Week

Elena Delle Donne – University of Delaware
Junior, Guard/Forward, Wilmington, Del.

Delle Donne earns ECAC player of the week honors again after averaging 25.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in two University of Delaware victories last week. She scored a game-high 29 points and collected 14 boards to help the ninth-ranked Blue Hens earn their ninth straight win with a 62-53 victory over  the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The junior also put up 22 points and 12 rebounds in a 68-49 victory over Virginia Commonwealth University for her eighth double-double of the year.

Division II Player of the Week

Felicia Joyner – C.W. Post – Long Island University
Senior, Guard, Lindenhurst, N.Y.

Joyner averaged 24.5 points per game in two C.W. Post victories on her way to ECAC player of the week. She scored 24 points in a tight 73-68 victory over New York Institute of Technology before pouring in 25 points in a 77-72 overtime triumph over the University of Bridgeport. The senior led all scorers with 5 of her team’s 10 overtime points.

Division III – New England Region Player of the Week

Taylor DeSanty – Colby-Sawyer College
Junior, Guard, North Adams, Mass.

DeSanty led her team by averaging 28.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in three Charger victories last week. She scored 19 points and collected six rebounds in a 65-46 win at New England College. The junior followed up that performance by scoring a Colby-Sawyer single-game record of 38 points in a 75-52 victory over the University of Maine – Farmington. She concluded her week by sinking five 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 28 points in a 101-80 triumph over Thomas College.

Division III – Metro Region Player of the Week

Naimah Clemons – Kean University
Junior, Guard, Newark, N.J.

Clemons had an all-around outstanding week by averaging 32.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 5.0 steals per game in two Kean victories last week. She scored 30 points, 11 rebounds and added eight assists in a 77-54 victory over Rowan University to begin the week. The senior then recorded her second double-double of the week with 35 points and 10 rebounds, making seven steals in a 71-50 victory over Rutgers University – Camden.

Division III – Upstate Region Player of the Week

Barb Kiliszek – Buffalo State College
Senior, Guard, Depew, N.Y.

Kiliszek became the 12th player in Buffalo State history to score 1,000 career points, leading the Bengals to two road victories with averages of 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She scored 11 points, collected six rebounds and three steals in a 65-58 victory over SUNY Plattsburgh. The senior followed up that performance with a 15-point, seven-rebound, seven-assist effort in a 58-40 besting of SUNY Potsdam.

Division III – South Region Player of the Week

Kate McDonald – Juniata College
Sophomore, Forward, Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.                                                         

McDonald collected a duo of double-double efforts in two road victories for Juniata last week. The sophomore scored a game-high 16 points and added 13 boards as the Eagles bested the University of Scranton 66-45. She then put up 13 points and 14 rebounds in a 63-60 victory over Moravian College. McDonald also added 10 assists, seven steals and four blocks on the week.
