Div. III Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Co-Players of the Week

Ashley Marble - University of Southern Maine
Senior, Forward, Topsfield, Maine

Marble averaged 28.5 points and 15 rebounds per game in two victories for Southern Maine as the Huskies posted their 27th straight season with 20 or more wins. Averaging a point per minute she played, Marble shot an outstanding 60 percent (21-35) from the field and was steady from the free-throw line, making 15-of-18 attempts (.833). In a pair of Little East Conference games, she scored 29 points and pulled in 15 rebounds at Plymouth State, while registering 28 points and collecting 15 caroms against Rhode Island College. The latter contest against the Anchorwomen marked her 14th consecutive double-double and 16th of the campaign. Marble is averaging 22.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game, while shooting at 50.5 percent from the field this season.

Jaime Capra - Brandeis University
Junior, Guard,
Old Bridge, N.J.

Capra, averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and three steals per game in leading the Judges to a 2-0 week. She hit 47 percent from the field (15-32) with a pair of 3-pointers and 83 percent from the line (15-18). Capra opened the weekend with 16 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists in a 74-48 win over Carnegie Mellon on Feb. 9. Two days later in a 65-49 win over Rochester (No. 6 in d3hoops.com poll, No. 7 WBCA), she scored a career-high 31 points (9-20 from the floor, 13-15 from the line) and pulled down 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and the fifth of her career. She also led the Judges with four assists.

Player of the Week

Heather Russell - D'Youville College

Margaretville, N.Y.

Russell led her team to a 2-0 record for the week in conference play. Russell finished the week with 34 points (17.0/game), 18 rebounds (9.0/game), 14 assists (7.0/game), 6 steals (3.0/game), 2 blocks, and a .520 shooting percentage. In the Spartans match against Keystone College, Russell recorded her first career triple-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Co-Players of the Week

Chari' Cooper -  Kean University
Junior, Center,
Paulsboro, N.J.

Cooper averaged 16.0 points and 20.0 rebounds per game during a 2-0 week of play for the Cougars. She opened the week with 11 points and 20 rebounds in Kean's 86-81 non-conference overtime win over Baruch. She then registered her fourth career 20-20 game and her 32nd career double-double with 21 points, 20 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals in Kean's 68-62 NJAC road victory over Richard Stockton which clinched the South Division championship for the Cougars. Cooper currently leads the NJAC in rebounding with an average of 10.7 boards per game.

Jessica McEntee - New York University
Sophomore, Forward,
Flushing, N.Y.

McEntee averaged 21.5 points and 14.0 rebounds while shooting 55.6% (15-27) from the floor and 91.7% (11-12) from the charity stripe as the Violets won a pair of University Athletic Association contests.  McEntee shot 9-14 and finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds in a 77-54 victory over #6 University of Rochester on Feb. 9.  Two days later, she went 10-10 from the foul line en route to tallying 22 points and 14 rebounds in an 86-66 triumph over Carnegie Mellon University.  McEntee now has 13 double-doubles this season for NYU (#8 ESPN/USA Today, #11 D3hoops.com), which is tied for first place in the UAA.

Player of the Week

Mary Rotimi - Lincoln (Pa.) University
Senior, Center,
Philadelphia Pa.

During a 3-0 week for the Lincoln University women's basketball team, Mary Rotimi averaged 20 points, 14.2 rebounds and 2 blocks. Rotimi recorded three double-doubles this week in wins against Swarthmore (23 points, 12 rebounds), Bryn Mawr (25 points, 18 rebounds) and Newport News Apprentice School (12 points, 14 rebounds). Rotimi, ranked third nationally in rebounding, has recorded eight straight double-doubles and has 35 for her career. Rotimi tied her career high in points during Lincoln's 61-49 victory over Bryn Mawr. During Lincoln's 76-57 win over Swarthmore, the first in school history, Rotimi scored 15 of her 23 points in the opening 20 minutes to help Lincoln to a 31-21 halftime lead. Rotimi ended the week by scoring eight of her 12 points in the second half during a 76-65 win over Newport News.
