After training hard and being a team leader during the fall workouts, Rosen has started her sophomore season off with much success. This weekend in Penn's home opener against Rutgers, she hit four out of four events and took home the top all around score, 38.95. Starting on vault, she scored a 9.55. She also placed first on bars (9.80), beam (9.775) and floor (9.825). Rosen has added difficulty in each routine and showed what a true all-around competitor she is. As a sophomore, she comes back with experience and the drive for success. She continues to be a key player for our team.

Freshman, Great River, NY
Scores from the week:
VT: 9.55, UB: 9.80, BB: 9.775, FX: 9.825, AA: 38.95
Riportella competed in the All-Around in her first collegiate competition, against University of New Hampshire. She had solid vault (9.5, sixth) and beam (9.3, fifth), and had an outstanding floor routine tying for second (9.675). She won the all-around with a 37.275 in just her first meet. Riportella accomplished this on just one week of gymnastics training after injuring her foot in December.
Specialist of the Week
Kerri Lutfey, University of Pennsylvania
Junior, Sherman Oaks, Calif.
Score from the week:
BB: 9.325

Coach's Choice
Alison Mak, Yale University
Sophomore, Richmond Hills, Ontario, Canada
Scores from the week:
VT: 9.075, BB: 9.65, FX: 9.50
Mak was recovering from knee surgery her freshman year and only competed beam. She was put in vault and floor line up this year with not much than a month and half of training. In a six team competition she won the beam event and had the Springfield's men's team standing and cheering her mount of three flairs. This also happened last year at Penn State competition with their men's team standing and cheering her very difficult mount. She continued with illusions and aerial cartwheel back hand spring and double turn. The content of routine was outstanding. In her first competition after her serious knee surgery that kept her out of all but one event.

Cate had a great performance to capture second place on Vault at the meet. She is recovering from a season ending injury last year during the second meet, and had several medical complications this year, but has overcome them quite well. The sophomore Red Dragon scored a 9.55 with her first successful vault in her collegiate career.
