Specialist of the Week

Sarah Durning, Brown University
Senior, Roswell, Ga.

Score from the week:
VT: 9.60

Durning came through in a huge way for the Bears this weekend in Brown's second home meet of the season. In a battle for state bragging rights, She led Brown on the vault with the team's top score, a 9.6. This was the first time in two years Durning was able to perform her handspring double twist. Her performance solidified the Bears' win over Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island. A senior on the Brown team, she has overcome ACL and meniscus tears in both of her knees during her collegiate career. She was unable to compete her junior year due to ACL surgery and tore her meniscus just weeks ago in Brown's second meet. She is a fighter and is determined to do whatever it takes to help her team in her final season.

Division III

Harrison continues to shine in her senior season.  In a dual meet Saturday at the Air Force Academy, she tied her personal best vault score with a 9.55 and set new personal bests on beam 9.55 and the all-around 38.10.  This marks the first time in her career that she has topped the coveted 38 mark in the all-around and she is the first gymnast in the ECAC to accomplish the feat this year.  Overall in the competition, she place second on vault, beam and floor (9.60) and she took first place in the all-around in helping MIT to their highest team total of the season.
