Cape Cod, Mass. - Commissioner of the ECAC Rudy Keeling
announced today the ECAC Men's West All-Conference teams for the
2009-10 season, presented by Combat Sports. The team is voted on by
the coaches of the league each year.
Manhattanville swept the major awards as junior forward Mickey
Lang (Reno, Nev./New York Apple Core, EJHL) of Manhattanville
College earned Player of the Year Honors in the ECAC Men's
West. Lang scored 13 goals and added 12 assists for 25 points
in Men's West play, and was tied for first place in the
league in scoring. His teammate Scott Hudson (St. Alberta,
Alberta/Sherwood park Crusaders. AJHL) was named Rookie of the
Year, leading all freshmen in scoring with eight goals and 11
assists. Senior Dillon Henningson (Edmonton, Alberta/La Ronge Ice
Wolves) of Manhattanville recieved Defensive Player of the Year for
the second year in a row.
Aaron Saul of Elmira College has been named Coach of the Year in
the ECAC Men's West. Saul guided the Soaring Eagles to an 11-4-0
league record, good for first place in the regular season. Elmira
is the number one seed in the Men's West Tournament, and will host
Manhattanville College in the Championship game.
Joining Lang on the All-ECAC West First Team are forwards Darcy
Vaillancourt (Bonfield, Ontario/Innisfil Lakers, GMJHL) of Elmira,
who was tied with Lang for the regular season scoring title, and
his teammate Rusty Masters (Grafton, Ontario/Port Hope Predators,
OPJHL). The All-ECAC West First Team defensemen are sophomore
William Lacasse (St. Pie, Quebec/Buffalo State College) from
Neumann University and Manhattanville senior A.J. Mikkelson
(Chestermere, Alberta/Drumheller Dragons, AJHL). The First Team
All-ECAC West goalie is Casey Tuttle (Yorktown Heights, N.Y. /Apple
Core). The Elmira net minder compiled a .918 save percentage and
2.33 goals against average in ECAC Men's West play.
