Coughlin Leads W&J to Comeback Win in Presidents Bowl

PHILADELPHIA -
Washington & Jefferson quarterback Pete Coughlin threw for 473 yards and the Presidents stormed back with 22 points in the fourth quarter to defeat The College at Brockport 38-31 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Presidents Bowl on Friday evening at Franklin Field.

The Presidents trailed by 11 (24-13) at the half and 15 (31-16) after three before a tenacious comeback led by Coughlin's three touchdown passes. For his winning efforts, Coughlin was named MVP of the Presidents Bowl.

W&J's Cody Hearst had 125 receiving yards while his counterpart Ian Gilhousen paced him with 153.

Brockport raced out with 17 points in the first quarter after a 47-yard run by Dan Andrews put the Golden Eagles ahead 17-7. In the second, Gilhousen caught a 47-yard pass from Andrews to take a 24-13 with 11:52 left.

The Golden Eagles scored on a 34-yard interception touchdown by Jake O'Connell.

Washington & Jefferson's Jesse Zubik was the beneficiary of two touchdowns passes from Coughlin.

The Presidents tied the contest with 1:48 left on a three-yard pass from Coughlin over to Jake Cullen. On the next possession, Brockport's Joe Germinerio was picked off by O'Shea Anderson, giving W&J the opportunity to capitalize. It took four plays to go 47 yards for the Presidents to clinch the come-from-behind win on Coughlin's pass to Anthony Keriotis.
