ECAC Unveils 2014-2015 Championship Calendar

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference released its championship schedule for the 2014-15 academic year today. The ECAC administers 100 preseason and postseason events in 37 men’s and women’s sports for its 122,000 student athletes.
For the fall season, the conference will host over 30 championships in nine different sports. The first set of championships will be the Men’s and Women’s Division I Golf Championships at Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, Conn. The championships are set to begin on Monday, Sept. 29 and conclude on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
The Division III Men’s Mid-Atlantic Golf Championship will be held at Blue Heron Hills Golf Club in Macedon, N.Y. on Oct. 4 and 5. The Division III Men’s New England Golf Championship will take place the following weekend at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, Mass.
The ECAC will be adding a Division II/Division III Women’s Golf Championship to its championship slate during the third weekend of October. The participants will tee off on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg, Pa and a champion will be crowned on Sunday, Oct. 19.
The ECAC will undertake a new championship initiative this fall when it administers the Men’s and Women’s Division II Cross Country Championships. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25 and will be held at Lamb’s Creek Recreation Area in Tioga, Pa.
Men’s and Women’s Division III Soccer will conduct regional championships in November. Each year the ECAC crowns an Upstate, Metro, South and New England Champion. First round games will be played on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the highest seeded campus. Semifinal games will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15 and the championship game will take place on Nov. 16 at the designated host campus.
The ECAC Division III New England and Mid-Atlantic Field Hockey Championships will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the highest seeded institution’s campus. The semifinals and championship contest will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15 and Sunday, Nov. 16 at the designated host campus.
The weekend of Nov. 15 will also be home of the ECAC Division III Women’s Volleyball regional championships. Matches for the Upstate, Metro, South and New England regions will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 12 and the semifinal and championship will be played on Saturday, Nov. 15. The site of these championships will be at the designated host campus.
The Men’s and Women’s Division III Cross Country Championships will take place at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. on Saturday, Nov. 8. In 2013, Williams College was the Men’s Division III Team Champion, coming in ahead of Tufts University and Amherst College. In the Women’s Division III Team Championship, Middlebury College finished in first place, followed by Williams College and Tufts University.
Saturday, Nov. 22 will mark the 106th running of the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) Cross Country Championship. The annual Division I race is held at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York. The Georgetown University Hoyas were the winners of the Championship race and the Fordham University Rams were University race winners.
The Division III Football championships kick-off on Nov. 22. Division III Northeast, Southeast, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Northwest and Southwest Bowls will take place at the campus of the highest seeded participant.
Winter championships begin with the Men’s & Women’s Swimming and Diving Season Warm-Up Championships at the Nassau Aquatics Center in East Meadow, N.Y. The dates of these championships are Friday, Dec. 5 through Sunday, Dec. 7.
The Division I Indoor Tennis Championships will be the first ECAC Championship of 2015. The women’s indoor championship will be held at Cornell University from Friday, Feb. 6 through Sunday, Feb. 8. The following weekend, the men’s championship will take place at Columbia University from Friday the 13th through Sunday the 15th.
As the calendar turns to March, the ECAC Synchronized Swimming National Qualifier Championship will be at Wheaton College on Feb. 28 and March 1. The Men’s and Women’s Open Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the University of Pittsburgh from Friday, Feb. 27 through Sunday, March 1.
ECAC Division III Men’s and Women’s Regional Basketball Championships will take place during the first weekend of March. The Upstate, Metro, South and New England championships for both the men and women will hold first round games on Wednesday, March 4, semifinal games on March 7 and the championship games will take place on Sunday, March 8.
March 6 through 8 will be the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championships. Boston University will again play host to the three-day event. In 2014, Cornell University claimed the men’s championship, while the University of Connecticut captured the women’s Division I Championships. The Men’s and Women’s Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will shift to the Armory in New York City on March 6 and 7.
Just a week after the Indoor Track and Field Championships, Parkway Lanes in Elmwood Park, N.J, will host the Women’s Bowling Championship. On Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15, host institution Fairleigh Dickinson University will put its 2014 title on the line.
The Women’s Division I Gymnastics Championship will be held on the campus of Yale University on Saturday, March 21 and the Division II Championship will be the same day at Southern Connecticut State University. The next weekend will showcase the Men’s Division I Gymnastics Championships. The United States Military Academy will host this event on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28.
The lone set of championships in April belongs to Men’s Volleyball. The North and South Division III Championships will play out on Saturday, April 18 at the highest seeded campus.
The second weekend in May proves to be the busy time of the spring for championships, as 13 will get underway beginning on May 1. Men’s and Women’s Division III Lacrosse will have regional championships on Wednesday the 6th through Sunday, May 10. At the same time, Division III Upstate, Metro and New England Baseball and Softball will host their respective regional championships. The Men’s and Women’s Division III Outdoor Tennis Championships will also run concurrently with the aforementioned regional team championships. The inaugural Outdoor Tennis Championships will be hosted by the highest seeded participating campus on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10.
The ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be at Princeton University beginning Friday, May 15 through Sunday the 17 and the Men's and Women's Division III Outdoor Championships will take place at Springfield College on May 14 and 15.
ECAC Rowing will be the final championships in 2015. During the first week of May, the New England Rowing Championship (NERC) Regatta and the Eastern Association of Women’s Rowing Colleges (EAWRC) Women’s Sprints will be held on May 2 and 3, respectively. On Sunday, May 10, the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) will be held at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. Also at Lake Quinsigamond will be the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) Sprints on May 17. The largest championship of the year will be held on Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31 when the the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships hits the water at Mercer Lake in Mercer County, West Windsor, N.J.
