Danbury, CONN. -  The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the ECAC Football Teams of the Year along with the recipients of the 2015 Lambert Meadowlands Awards, to be presented at the Eastern College Football Awards Banquet, hosted by the ECAC at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Temple University will receive the 2015 ECAC Football Bowl Subdivision Team of the Year Award following a season in which the Owls returned to the Top 25 for the first time since 1980. Under the direction of ECAC FBS Coach of the Year Matt Rhule, Temple posted a 10-2 mark in the regular season and won the American Athletic Conference’s East Division.

Fordham University will collect the award for ECAC Football Championship Subdivision Team of the Year after posting a 9-2 record and reaching the NCAA FCS Championship tournament. Additionally, Newberry College has been selected as the ECAC Division II Football Team of the Year, while the award for ECAC Division III Football Team of the Year will be presented to Johns Hopkins University.

The United States Naval Academy has been selected as the winner of the 2015 Lambert Trophy, awarded annually to the top football team in the Eastern region of the Bowl Subdivision. Under the leadership of Head Coach Ken Niumatalolo and propelled by the exploits of Keenan Reynolds, the Midshipmen posted an 11-2 record, the first-ever 11-win season in the program’s 135 year history, to claim the Lambert Trophy for the first time since 1963.

The Lambert Meadowlands Award for the FCS features a three-way split among Ivy League institutions. Dartmouth College (9-1, 6-1 Ivy), Harvard University (9-1, 6-1) and the University of Pennsylvania (7-3, 6-1 Ivy) will share the accolade following one of the most even years in recent memory, as the Ivy League will boast its first Lambert Meadowlands Award recipients since Penn shared the award with the College of the Holy Cross in 1986.

Additionally, Shepherd University (WV) will claim the Lambert Meadowlands Award for Division II after posting a 13-1 record and reaching the DII Football Championship, while Wesley College will receive the Division III Lambert Meadowlands Award.

All Lambert and ECAC Award recipients will be honored on February 25, at the Eastern College Football Awards Banquet, hosted by the ECAC at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. A full list of major award winners can be found here
