ECAC Announces Corvias Football Players of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias Football Players of the Week for the week ending Sept. 18.

DIVISION II
Offensive Player of the Week
Andrew Derr - West Chester University, R-Jr., QB

Drew broke nearly every passing record in the West Chester record book Saturday. He completed 39 of 70 passes for 559 yards - all school single-game records - and accounted for 563 yards of total offense (another school record). The red-shirt junior QB threw four touchdown passes, including two in the final 3:31 that helped erase a 14-point deficit late in the game. He then completed another TD strike in the first overtime possession to force a second OT, before the Rams eventually fell to Edinboro. Derr helped West Chester set two more school records with 108 plays from scrimmage for 758 yards of total offense.

Defensive Player of the Week
Olatoyo Ishola - Pace University, Sr., DL

Ishola had an incredible defensive effort in Pace's matchup with American International College on Saturday, in which the Setters gave up just three points. He was one of four Setters with eight tackles, but added two sacks and three more tackles for loss, pushing the Yellow Jackets back for a total of 26 yards in the wrong direction.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Karch Holland - Gannon University, Jr., PK

Holland averaged 61.2 yards on five kickoffs, produced two touchbacks and was successful during his only field goal attempt during a come-from-behind 30-27 overtime victory against Bloomsburg. He gave Gannon a 17-7 lead midway through the second quarter with a 28-yard field goal, and was perfect in three extra-point attempts, remaining perfect in 10 attempts this season. He has converted 31 consecutive extra points dating back to last.


DIVISION III - NORTH

Offensive Player of the Week
Daniel Bronson - University of Rochester, Jr., QB

Bronson ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more as Rochester defeated Alfred State College, 55-27. He was 14 of 23 for 237 yards and two scores (19 yds. and 68 yds.). He ran for TDs of three yards, 17 yards, and one yard on the day, carrying 21 times for a net of 145 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week
Demarre Nelson - St. John Fisher College, So., CB

Nelson sealed Fisher's 31-24 win over No. 15 ranked SUNY Cortland on Saturday as he made two interceptions in the Fisher red-zone in the final three minutes. The first was made at his own 7-yard line with 3:08 remaining in the game. Fisher was forced to punt on its next possession, giving Cortland the ball at midfield with 1:01 remaining, but Nelson again came up big, making his second interception at the Fisher 17 with seven seconds left.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Nicodemus Gambill - Utica College, Sr., KR/RB

Gambill posted three kickoff returns for 151 yards and set a new school-record with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown as the Pioneers topped Morrisville 28-21 Saturday night. Gambill's 151 return yards ranks third on the College's single game list. In the third quarter Morrisville took a 21-14 lead with an 89-yard touchdown run at the 10:18 mark of the quarter. Gambill answered on the ensuing kickoff with his 99-yard touchdown return to tie the score at 21-21 with 10:04 remaining in the third quarter.

Rookie of the Week
Jedh Downey - Hobart College, Fr., LB

Downey shared game-high honors with eight tackles in Hobart's 23-3 win over Ithaca on Saturday. The Statesmen limited the Bombers to 177 yards of total offense, 65 of which came on the game's opening drive. Downey had five solo stops and three assists.


DIVISION III - SOUTH

Offensive Player of the Week
Chase Kinemond - Bethany College, Jr., QB

Kinemond accounted for a career-high 511 yards of total offense and six touchdowns in Saturday's league-opening setback at Thiel, completing 39-of-50 passes for 417 yards and throwing fourth quarter touchdown passes of 42, 45 and 52 yards. He also rushed 21 times for 94 yards and three scores. His 511 yards rank second among all-time, single-game PAC leaders while his 39 completions tied for third on the league's single-game list.

Defensive Player of the Week
William Sewell - Frostburg State University, Sr., DL

Sewell helped Frostburg State capture its first NJAC win of the season, a 24-7 victory over Southern Virginia. In a game in which the Bob Cat defense held the SVU offense to just 161 total yards and no pass completions, he tallied 12 total tackles, including 3.0 tackles for a loss. He also anchored a defensive line that held the Knights to just 2.6 yards per play in the victory. Sewell currently leads the NJAC in total tackles for a loss (7.5).

Special Teams Player of the Week
Jamie Sullivan - Johns Hopkins University, Jr., PK

Sullivan hit a key 50-yard field goal in the Blue Jays' 29-21 victory vs. Moravian. The kick is the third-longest in JHU history and one of just six in Centennial history of 50 yards or more. Sullivan's previous career long was 39 yards.

Rookie of the Week
Raekwon Wright - Bethany College, Fr., RB

Wright totaled 291 all-purpose yards in Saturday's shootout loss at Thiel, finishing with 89 yards and one touchdown on the ground, 78 yards and one touchdown receiving and a combined 124 return yards.
