ECAC Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Week Ending Oct. 8

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Men's Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 8.

DIVISION II
Offensive Player of the Week
John Camponeschi - R-JR, F/M, New York Institute of Technology

Camponeschi scored his first three goals since returning from a knee injury this past week. He netted the opening goal in an eventual 2-1 win at District of Columbia, then scored twice in a 3-0 win at Molloy as the Bears had a perfect week.

Defensive Player of the Week
Kwantarian Van der Lara - SR, GK, Mercy College

Van der Lara posted a pair of shutouts as the Mavericks went 2-0 on the week with 1-0 wins at Bridgeport and Daemen. The senior posted five saves in the win over the Purple Knights and made one save in the triumph over Daemen. Van der Lara now has six shutouts on the year.

Rookie of the Week
Baran Kilic - R-FR, MF, Gannon University

Kilic had the first game-winning goal of his career in overtime against Seton Hill. The rookie lined up a shot from 25 yards out, arching it over the goalie's leap and depositing it in the net.


DIVISION III - METRO
Offensive Player of the Week
Rayneri Ruiz - SO, F, St. Joseph's College- Long Island

Ruiz provided the game-winning tally in both wins last week, notching four goals overall in that stretch. The sophomore buried the golden goal versus Old Westbury and then added a hat trick, including the first two goals of the match, in a 5-1 victory over Sarah Lawrence.

Defensive Player of the Week
JT Bretschneider - SR, GK, Fairleigh Dickinson University- Florham

Bretschneider stood strong in a 1-1 week, making 14 saves on 41 shots. The senior did all he could to keep the Devils in the game with No. 8/13 Rutgers-Newark, making nine saves on 22 shots in a 1-0 setback, with the only goal coming on a penalty kick. Bretschneider continued to be strong with five saves on 19 shots in a 1-0 win over Wilkes to end the week.


DIVISION III - NORTH
Offensive Player of the Week
Dylan Hennessy - SO, M, Brandeis University

Hennessy was involved in three of Brandeis's five goals in a 2-0 week, including both game-winners. In a 3-1 win over MIT, his free kick led to an own goal to open the scoring in the 39th minute, while his goal in the 43rd minute proved to be the game-winner. In the ninth minute of the Judges' 2-0 win over Carnegie Mellon, Hennessy's corner kick provided the assist on the game-winning goal as Brandeis (#15/ #18) pulled the minor upset over the Tartans (#11/12).

Defensive Player of the Week
Ben Woodhouse - SR, GK, Brandeis University

Woodhouse made 11 saves, a career-high, in Brandeis's 2-0 win over Carnegie Mellon. Ten of those 11 saves came in the second half as the Tartans pressed forward.

Rookie of the Week
Zac Lloyd - FR, F, Marywood University

Lloyd scored both of the Pacers' goals in a 2-0 win over Clarks Summit. Ending a scoreless battle, Lloyd found the net in the 68th and 78th minute on assists from Tom Cuffari for both goals. The freshman contributed six shots, one on goal, in 3-2 victory over Cairn later in the week.


DIVISION III - SOUTH
Offensive Player of the Week
Franklin Tropiano - JR, MF, Grove City College

Tropiano scored the lone goal in Grove City's 1-0 victory at Washington & Jefferson. He also scored in a 2-1 setback at Buffalo State.

Defensive Player of the Week
Mike Gould - SO, GK, Cabrini University

Gould led the Cavaliers to a pair of shutouts last week. The sophomore recorded five saves, as Cabrini extended its win streak with shutouts at Keystone and Centenary.

Rookie of the Week
Bernardo Vilchis - FR, D, Bethany College

Vilchis gave Bethany a 1-0 advantage over Thiel in the 1-1 draw, scoring in the 63rd minute after scoring off of a Luis Artega assist. He has a pair of goals and an assist this season for Bethany.
