ECAC Announces Field Hockey Players of the Week for Week Ending Oct. 15

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Field Hockey Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 15.

Division II
Offensive Player of the Week
Kaitlin Hatch - JR, MF, West Chester University

Hatch played a pivotal role as West Chester won both matches this week, defeating Kutztown University and Limestone College. The junior registered a pair of goals to go along with three assists this week. Her first assist helped Caitlin Kelly score the first goal in a 2-0 shutout against Kutztown. In a 5-1 victory over No. 7 Limestone, the junior tallied two goals and assisted on two others.

Defensive Player of the Week
Cheradyn Pettit - JR, GK, Mercy College

Pettit backstopped the Mavericks to two shutouts last week, highlighted by an overtime triumph over Bellarmine University. The junior opened the week with seven saves in a 4-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas College, then followed up with a season-high 10 stops against Bellarmine, as Mercy managed to squeeze out a 1-0 win in overtime. Pettit currently ranks second among ECAC DII Field Hockey League goalkeepers with an average of 5.00 saves per game.

Rookie of the Week
Angelina Perrone - FR, F, Belmont Abbey College

Perrone notched a hat trick in Belmont Abbey's 6-3 win over Molloy College, needing just four shots on target to record her three tallies. Perrone opened the scoring from a penalty corner in the first half, then scored her second of the day just eight minutes later. She then completed her hat trick early in the second half, redirecting Demetria Barrow's shot past the Molloy goalkeeper.

Division III-North
Offensive Player of the Week
Taylor Lough - JR, F, Bates College

Lough scored the lone goal in Bates' 1-0 win over Amherst College, and assisted on the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Tufts University. The junior continued her strong week when she scored the first goal in a 2-1 overtime victory over Babson. Overall, she tallied two goals and an assist on the week.

Defensive Player of the Week
Alexa Jurgeleit - SO, MF, Bates College

Jurgeleit spearheaded Bates' defensive effort in a 3-0 week against three top-six nationally ranked teams, including a 2-1 win over Babson and back-to-back 1-0 victories over Tufts and Amherst. Bates allowed only seven shots on goal over the three games.

Division III - South
Offensive Player of the Week
Teresa Carr - SR, MF, Kean University

Carr scored three goals and recorded an assist this week. She drained a goal and dished out her assist in a 7-0 win over Neumann University, and then scored two of the Cougars' five goals in a 5-0 shutout of Stockton.

Defensive Player of the Week
Francesca Cali - SR, D, Johns Hopkins University

Cali led Johns Hopkins to a 2-0 week with shutout wins over McDaniel College and Swarthmore College. She anchored a Blue Jay defense that allowed just nine shots, while scoring a goal off a penalty corner against the Green Terror. Later in the week, she led a defense that once again surrendered just nine shots in the win over the Garnet.
