ECAC Announces Division II Women's Volleyball All-ECAC
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2017 Division II Women’s Volleyball All-ECAC Team.
Leanna Jadus of Southern Connecticut State University was named Offensive Player of the Year and Nicki Yates of West Chester University claimed Defensive Player of the Year. Ashley Kerestes from Gannon University takes home Rookie of the Year, while Gannon University’s Matt Darling was named Coach of the Year.
Jadus’ honor comes right after being named the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Player of the Year. The outside hitter was also selected as a member of the All NE-10 First Team. She led the NE-10 in overall points with 524, finished second in kills with 450 and third in kills per set and aces per set. Her 450 kills were a single season record for the program.
Yates claimed Defensive Player of the Year after being a five time ECAC Division II Defensive Player of the Week and leading her team in digs with 591. She also led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in aces with 51 for an average of 0.52 aces per set.
Kerestes led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and ranked ninth among all NCAA Division II players in blocks per set with 1.32. Kerestes also ranked seventh in the conference in hitting (.307) and led the conference in blocks. She was named ECAC Rookie of the Week four times this season.
Matt Darling from Gannon University was named Coach of the Year after leading the Golden Knights to a 27-5 record. Darling guided the Knights to their ninth consecutive 20-win season and their ninth consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament appearance. His team produced a season high eight game winning streak that helped lead to another tournament appearance.
