ECAC Announces DIII Football Major Awards & All-ECAC Teams

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the 2017 Division III Football Major Awards and All-ECAC Selections.

Jesse Zubik from Washington & Jefferson College claims Offensive Player of the Year while Kean University's Darin Hungerford takes home Defensive Player of the Year. Offensive Rookie of the Year goes to Ithaca College's Wahid Nabi as Stefon Woodruff of Wesley College wins Defensive Rookie of the Year. Mike Sirianni was named Coach of the Year.

Zubik sits at third in Division III with 1,324 receiving yards this season and fourth with 16 touchdowns. He ranks first among all Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) wide receivers in yards, touchdowns and receptions (74). The four-year starter sits among the best receivers in Division III history with 281 receptions for 4,672 yards and 53 touchdowns. He holds W&J records for yardage total (seventh all-time), touchdowns (tied for ninth) and receptions (13th).

Hungerford was just the second player in Kean history to earn the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) top defensive honor. The senior makes his second straight appearance on the first team defense. A two-time NJAC Defensive Player of the Week, he currently leads the NJAC in tackles per game (12.4) and total tackles. He is ranked third nationally in solo tackles with 80, seventh in total tackles (124) and 31st in tackles for a loss. During the season, he broke his own school record for tackles in a game with 25 against nationally ranked Frostburg State.

Nabi collects the Offensive Rookie of the Year accolade after being named to the Liberty League second-team. He led the league in both completion percentage and efficiency. He totaled 2,338 yards through the air while passing for 15 touchdowns in nine games played. Nabi earned five Liberty League weekly honors throughout the season, as well as being named ECAC Rookie of the Week three times.

Woodruff led the Wesley squad in sacks (12) and tackles (50) while also sitting atop the NJAC in sacks and finished the regular season second in tackles for loss (18.0). A four-time NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week selection this season, he was the only freshman named to either the first or second-team all-conference squads

Coach Sirianni earned his seventh PAC Coach of the Year award as he led W&J to its 18th undefeated regular season in program history; the 13th under his leadership. As he closed out the 2017 campaign with a perfect 10-0 (8-0 PAC) record, Sirianni became the Presidents' career wins leader with 138.
