Carnegie Mellon Tabbed Overall Top Seed for 2017 ECAC Women's Basketball Tournament

DANBURY, Conn.
 – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the field for the 2017 ECAC Division III Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Visit Myrtle Beach with Carnegie Mellon University selected as the overall top seed after finishing the season with a 18-7 overall record.  
 
This year’s women’s tournament features a field of 15 teams. As the overall top seed, Carnegie Mellon (18-7) will receive a bye in the first round of play.

The first round of games to be played on Wednesday, March 1 will see Brooklyn College (21-6) host Neumann University (18-8) in Region 1. Moravian College (19-7) will host Centenary University (20-6) and Grove City College (14-12) host Waynesburg University (16-11) in Region 2. Region 3 will have Springfield University (18-8) host SUNY Cobleskill (14-11) and New York University (13-12) host Marywood University (18-8). Rounding out the bracket in Region 4, Stevenson University (17-9) will host Cabrini University (16-12) and Misericordia University (18-8) will host Rutgers University-Camden (14-11).
 
Winners of Wednesday evening’s regional matchups will travel to Carnegie Mellon on Friday, March 3 for the quarterfinal round. Carnegie Mellon will serve as host for the weekend.
