ECAC Announces 2018 Division I Men's Soccer All-ECAC
DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2018 Division I Men's Soccer All-ECAC Team.
Martieon Watson of Stony Brook University is named Offensive Player of the Year. Josh Bauer of University of New Hampshire claimed Defensive Player of the Year honors. Sam Ilin from LIU Brooklyn earns Rookie of the Year honors and Paul Zazenski of James Madison University wins Coach of the Year.
Watson concludes his senior year with ECAC Offensive Player of the Year recognition. The midfielder from Vessigny, Trinidad led the Seawolves in assists during the 2018 season with seven. In total on the year he finished with 11 points. Watson was named America East Midfielder of the Year and was named to the second team in the Unted Soccer Coaches All-Region honors.
Bauer's sophomore campaign is a decorated one. He was named to the All-America East First Team, America East Tournament Most Outstanding Player, America East All-Tournament Team and America East Defensive Player of the Year. He compiled ten points on four goals and two assists while starting all 17 games for the Wildcats.
Ilin had a terrific first year for the Blackbirds as he compiled a 10-3 record with over 1,200 minutes in net. The rookie allowed just 12 goals on 155 shots faced for a save percentage of .829. He allowed a goals against average of just 0.86 with 58 total saves on the year. He posted six shutouts as well for the squad. His shutouts, goals against average and save percentage all led the Northeast Conference.
Paul Zazenski in his first year as head coach set a new program record for most wins as a first year head coach with 15. The teams overall record in 2018 under Zazenski was 15-4-3. The Dukes won both the regular season title and CAA Championship. The stellar first year at the helm led to Zazenski being named CAA Coach of the Year.
