ECAC Announces 2018 Division I Women's Soccer All-ECAC

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2018 Division I Women’s Soccer All-ECAC Team.
 
Central Connecticut State University headlines the major award winners, with Ashley Cavanaugh taking home Defensive Player of the Year and Coach Mick D’Arcy being voted Coach of the Year. Mariah Williams of the University at Albany was voted Offensive Player of the Year, and Fiona Wright of the New Jersey Institute of Technology won Rookie of the Year.

Williams, a senior from Utica, NY not only led her team with 17 goals and 38 points, but also led all of the America East conference. She finishes her career with the Great Danes as the program’s career record holder in both goals and points. For her efforts this season Williams was named the America East Striker of the Year.

Cavanaugh, a senior from Belchertown, MA started all 20 games for the Blue Devils on her way to logging over 1800 minutes in goal. Amongst NCAA leaders she ranked 6ht in shutouts with 11, 21st in save percentage at .854 and 23rd in goals against average at .646. Her accolades this season include being named Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week three times, Northeast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year by New England Soccer Journal.

Wright, a freshman from Ajax, Ontario registered 11 goals this season, more than any first-year player for the Highlanders and just one off the overall mark in program history as a Division I team and ranked her tied for third among D-I freshman scorers. Wright was selected as All-South Region 2nd team becoming the first female Highlander to be recognized on an All-Region team since competing at the Division I level. In addition, Wright was named ASUN Conference Rookie of the Year and first-team honoree.

Coach Mick D’Arcy led the Central Connecticut Blue Devils to an outstanding 16-2-2. He was named Northeast Conference Coach of the Year for the 5th time this season and won the Northeast Conference Championship for the 9th time. In addition, the CCSU coaching staff was named the United Soccer Coaches North Region Coaching Staff of the Year.  In 2018 coach D’Arcy lead his team to their 9th NCAA tournament appearance and ranked 4th in the NCAA with a .850 winning percentage.
