ECAC Announces DIII Men's Basketball All-Stars and Major Awards
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2017 Division III Men’s Basketball All-ECAC Team and Major Award Winners.
Tyheim Monroe from Cabrini University was named Player of the Year while Aaron Johnson-Chavis from Neumann University earned Rookie of the Year. Josh Loeffler from Johns Hopkins University rounds out the 2017-18 ECAC Major Awards collecting Coach of the Year.
Monroe’s stellar 2017-18 campaign had him atop the nation’s leaderboard in rebounds per game (15.1), total rebounds (407), double-doubles (24), triple-doubles (2) and defensive rebounds per game (11.11). He ranks in nation's top 40 in points per game, steals per game, total points, field goals made, total minutes, total steals, field goal attempts and offensive rebounds per game. Monroe had four games with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds, including a career-high 28 points, 28 rebounds at Centenary College. This was his third consecutive season with at least 400 rebounds. He was named Colonial States Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned 11 CSAC weekly awards this season.

Johnson-Chavis finished second on the Neumann squad in points per game with 14.7. He averaged just under ten rebounds a game (9.9) and has a team and conference-best 68 blocks on the season. He had a season-high 23 points in a win over Cabrini then grabbed 20 rebounds in a win over Keystone College. A two-time Colonial States Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week selection, Johnson-Chavis is the third Neumann player to earn Rookie of the Year honors and is the second straight Knight to win Defensive Player of the Year.

Centennial Conference Coach of the Year Josh Loeffler led Johns Hopkins to the Centennial Conference Tournament title as well as a share of regular season title after being picked to finish fifth. Loeffler led JHU to its eighth 20-win season in program history. The 23-win season is third most and two shy of program record. Loeffler set the record for wins by a first-year coach in school and Centennial Conference history and he was the first coach in conference history to win a title in their first season.
