ECAC Announces Women's Gymnastics Weekly Accolades

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announces its weekly awards for women's gymnastics for the week of competition ending Jan. 27.

Gymnast of the Week
Taylor White - The College of William & Mary, Jr., Chesterfield, Virginia

White came in second in the all-around as the Tribe competed against Towson University last weekend. She scored a 38.85 for the all-around just one-tenth of a point from her career-high. She tied her career-high on the beam with a score of 9.8 as well as matching a season high on the uneven bars with a 9.7. White did score a season high on vault with a 9.65 and to round out her all-around score she earned a 9.7 for her floor routine.

Specialist of the Week
India Anderson - Temple University, Sr., Allendale, South Carolina

Anderson continued her stellar senior season competing in her specialty event, the floor routine. She set a new career-high for the event as she competed against University of Pennsylvania, Ithaca College and Ursinus College in Temple's Pink Meet. She earned a score of 9.9 for her floor routine, a score that would be the highest mark for the entire meet.

Rookie of the Week
Samantha Sakti - The College of William & Mary, Fr., Arcadia, California

Sakti earns her second consecutive Rookie of the Week Honors after finishing in the top three of all three events she competed in. She was third on vault with a score of 9.725. She placed second on the beam with a 9.85, which sets a new career-high score. Sakti best finish came when she scored a 9.85 for her floor routine giving her a share of first place.

Coaches Choice
Alyssa Gardner - Brown University, So., Angola, New York

Gardner competed in three events, one of which was an exhibition last weekend. She was not originally schedule to compete for the Brown Bears but was able to pull through for her team. Her exhibition event was the uneven bars where she scored a 9.5. Her other two events came on the floor with a score of 9.45 and vault with a score of 9.7. The 9.7 on vault was a season high for the sophomore.

Gymnast of the Week
Hannah Stahlbrodt - Southern Connecticut State University, Fr., Cicero, New York

Stahlbrodt put on a record-breaking performance for the Owls last weekend as the competed against University of Brockport and Rhode Island College. She broke a 10-year old program record that was previously owned by Justin Basley. Her mark of 38.675 is the new bench mark for Southern Connecticut gymnasts. Stahlbrodt won the uneven bars with a 9.65 and the floor exercise with a 9.825, which was also the highest score of the meet. She finished second in the balance beam with a 9.7 and to round out her record-breaking day score a 9.5 on vault.

Specialist of the Week
Sarah Boyd - West Chester University, Jr., Saint Petersburg, Florida

Boyd competed in both the balance beam and floor exercise for the Golden Rams last weekend. Her floor routine scored a 9.625, a mark that would place her in fourth. Boyd's beam routine was her best scoring a 9.75 and taking first place in the event.

Rookie of the Week
Crystal Gwinn - University of Bridgeport, Fr., New Port Richey, Florida

Gwinn had a terrific meet for the Purple Knights as they competed in a quad meet at Brown University. She competed in just two events but set new personal records in both. Her first event was vault where she scored a 9.85. Her second event was the floor exercise scoring a 9.875. In both events Gwinn was shown on 9.9 as she impressed the judges at the meet.


Coaches Choice
Brieanna Zine - University of Bridgeport, Sr., Brockton, Massachusetts

Zine competed in just one event, the vault, for the Purple Knights. The senior captain debuted her 10.0 start value vault. She would go on to score a 9.7 for the team.
